We agree with Nancy on this judge. What she leaves out, however, is that she voted for her - dc.statelibrary.sc.gov/server/api/cor… This is the issue with folks like Nancy is they are great with messaging but zero with results. This is because she has zero executive experience and wants the keys to reform a South Carolina government that needs to be rebooted. Hopefully, the citizen is plugged in and wise to this. We also agree with Nancy that she and other legislators should not be picking judges. However, when we introduced the judicial reform bill this year that bans legislators and their next of kin from picking judges, she did not voice any support for the bill. As a citizen, I had to rally all 85 Republicans in the House to vote for it and watch it sit in the Senate even though most Republican senators support it. Nancy could have helped here but radio silence. This bill is the maximum that can be done with judicial reform without a constitutional amendment. A constitutional amendment in SC requires two thirds of all legislators to agree to put it on a ballot. No chance as long as the dark money from trial lawyers keeps 31% of the legislature lawyer-legislators. I have said this before. On policy, there is little difference between candidates as seen in two debates. The issue is who can get it done. And if all these candidates who have 53 years in office between them can get it done, why have they not ? Of course, they say they were not in the Governor’s seat. But leadership does not require you to be in a specific job. You can go to the administration as a congressman and urge them to implement an idea that would better people’s lives. Yet, 10 years ago we were in the bottom 10 in education, roads etc and we are still there. All talk, no results. What have we got to lose to try something different? Like the President, I have spent my career not in political office but in the real world creating, building and getting results. I will get the job done or I will not run again.
