@palisadesops In 60 years Skiing the Sierra, I have never run into lightning. Golfing? Many times but never skiing.

All lifts at Alpine and Palisades are currently on lightning hold. We are downloading via the Funitel and Tram at Palisades. We will update here as we know more on the cell moving through. Feel free to wait it out in base area lodges. #palisadesops

@barstoolsports That’s a hell of a spot. Pure situational awareness and zero hesitation. Also a reminder: if you’re in avy terrain without beacon, probe, shovel, and a partner who knows what they’re doing, you’re basically gambling with a loaded gun.

🚨 Traffic Update (01/4/26 at 9:15pm) 🚨 Westbound and eastbound I-80 over Donner Summit is currently being held due to multiple spin-outs and ongoing cleanup operations. While snowfall has tapered off, road conditions remain slick and crews are still working to clear incidents.

@jetdillo @CaltransDist3 We drove up along 50 last night and the amount of trees in the road and on the shoulder at lower elevations was incredible.

We're also still working to clear numerous trees from I-80. They. Just. Keep. Falling. 🤦‍♀️Please remember to thank a maintenance worker for their continued efforts to get the highways reopened.

@MelanieHunterTV 50 was extremely well plowed last night and there was good visibility. A ton of downed trees and a few lines were down in the lower elevations. The chain control worker told us to “drive under 25mph and watch out for falling trees!”

❄️ Snow is still coming down in the Sierra! That still leaves us with a handful of closures. Hwy 50 is open and the best Sierra route for now.
