The Minister was delighted to catch up again with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, at Government House in Bangkok.
The Minister conveyed his condolences on the passing of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, and on the recent flooding in southern Thailand.
The Prime Minister and Minister, recalling their long history of engagement, discussed how to further strengthen the Thailand-New Zealand relationship; and exchanged perspectives on regional and global issues.

The Foreign Ministers of New Zealand and Viet Nam, Winston Peters and Le Hoai Trung, are meeting in Hà Nội today.
The Ministers noted that, in our 50th year of diplomatic relations, ties between New Zealand and Viet Nam are going from strength to strength.
The Ministers launched the NZ-Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Plan of Action, which will guide our cooperation over the next five years.
It has five pillars: Political Engagement; Defence, Security and Oceans; Economics, Trade and Investment; Climate Change, Science and Technology; and Education and People to People.
Minister Peters said New Zealand looked forward to its relationship with Viet Nam continuing to flourish in the years ahead.
He also announced $3 million in humanitarian assistance to help Viet Nam’s response to its recent typhoons and flooding.
In their official talks, the Ministers:
-discussed how to further strengthen bilateral cooperation; and
-shared perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Minister has arrived in Hà Nội to start his four-country trip in Asia this week, which will feature programmes in Viet Nam, China, Thailand & Cambodia.
The Minister called on Viet Nam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyen Chi Dung.
They discussed:
-the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic ties between New Zealand and Viet Nam and the elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership;
-strengthening cooperation across sectors under this enhanced partnership, with a particular focus on economic development, science and technology;
-New Zealand’s assistance to Viet Nam, as it seeks to recover from recent typhoons.
