First experimental shots with a customised UV flash. Need to fine-tune the setup to deal with light leakage, narrowing the UV bandpass, etc. BUT much easier and faster to get usable shots.

Kids are climbing over her head again, while she holds onto the egg sac with the younger siblings.

Having previously found Green Meshweaver spiders (Nigma walckenaeri) associated with ivy & occasionally holly, then rediscovering them in the garden on viburnum, this individual snacking on a tiny fly today was an unexpected find on a tomato leaf. 🕷💚🍃

Same spider, same scene, same pose, same camera, same lens, just some optics added in front. Which do you prefer? Heteropoda davidbowie ♂

@DrRossPiper And speaking of spiders, Pisaura mirabilis would make a great segment. Males with nuptial gifts. Females carrying their egg sacs, and then guarding the nursery and her developing young 😊

@DrRossPiper If there is a spider focused section as there was in the original, is there talks of including Steatoda nobilis? It would be great to have something out there to put a lot of the nonsense to bed, once, and for all. Not sure if that type of thing is what you're going for of course

@DrRossPiper 2 things I think would be great to feature. The European Beewolf (Philanthus triangulum) and its relationship with Honey Bees. And also the maternal care of the Lace-weaver (Amaurobius sp.) and how the female let's her young eat her alive 😊

@DrRossPiper Yeah I can imagine. Plus it's over quite quickly, so it may not be the most worthwhile segment.
