Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip Mainga, today hosted the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr Sing'oei Korir, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kenya H.E. Guo Haiyan, Nakuru County Governor H.E. Susan Kihika and other key stakeholders for an investment meeting aboard the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train from Nairobi to Naivasha Internal Container Depot. The team discussed ways through which factories and industries in the region could take advantage of the Madaraka Express Freight Service to transport their cargo to and from Mombasa. The exercise entailed a tour to Vertical Agro Processing Company, an Export Processing Zone facility in Naivasha. Vertical Agro Limited specializes in processing vegetables and fruits for the international markets. The team at Vertical Agro Limited were delighted to learn of the reefer transport option at Kenya Railways. The reefer transportation option entails transportation of temperature sensitive cargo via our specialized wagons designed to transport reefer containers. Utilizing this option would boost Vertical Agro Limited's operations through reduced transit times for their products as they head to the international markets and affordable rates. The meeting was graced by key leaders and sector players, including the Deputy Governor of Narok H.E. Tamalimye Koech; the Deputy Governor of Kajiado, H.E. Martin Moshisho, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Investment Authority, Mr. John Mwendwa; the Director of Kipeto Energy, Dr. Kenneth Namunje; Prof. Peter Kagwanja, Chief Executive of the Africa Policy Institute; Mr. Tishu Shah; and representatives from China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), among others in the private sector.
