Debt creates mental overload and anxiety which focuses people on present rather than future. Study finds reducing debt improves cognition and anxiety. This has implications for health prevention (a future focus) as well.

AND after short psychoed, I love teaching FEAR plan from Coping Cat (Feeling frightened, Expecting the worst, Attitudes to actions, Reaping the rewards) or Name it, Tame it, Reclaim it. At least within mental health, this feels like the understatement of the year! :) We are doing poorly building patient "pull" for our evidence-based Tx. #ImpSci has been talking abt this since I first discovered it (~12 yrs), but I've seen few good strategies at the patient level
