Do orthopedic surgeons set RVUs/reimbursement rates or something bc why does a simple wrist fracture reduction in the ED pay me more than doing a central line, arterial line, lumbar puncture, and chest tube combined?? lol. These are magnitudes more complex and riskier procedures.

I caught a NSTEMI. Me. A MS3. Saw a pt in the ED for shortness of breath cardio consult, presumed CHF exacerbation with no PMH. Noticed ST depressions on tele while doing my exam. Trop = elevated. Lesson: always go in with a clean DDx + look at vitals in room

New goal: I want to develop a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to helping both students and programs maneuver the match process. This would be similar to other companies who shall not be named but be free. It would be a free platform to post open spots, scramble spots, and new program

Resident swap is mad because some PD's personally messaged me about openings in their program or also found on Reddit and AAMC Find a Resident & I tweeted about it. Some fellow positions are also open on Frieda. This is why it is toxic for applicants.

And you shouldn’t take those shots either. “_____ residency is easy” should never come out of your mouth. Stop perpetuating toxic culture in medicine, and help lift our trainees up by acknowledging the hard work they do.

Man it really bothers me when people label certain specialty residency programs as “easy.” All it does is invalidate any mental/physical challenges trainees may have, and it’s just flat out wrong.

Does anyone other than me experience what I call “the attending blessing?” When my residents are having trouble w/something, the moment I decide to scrub in to help is when they succeed. It doesn’t matter if it’s been 5 min or 30, it always happens exactly when I’m being gowned.

Also went unmatched 3 times, landed my PGY-2 spot at a residency objectively better than the gen surg programs I interviewed at last Match cycle. It may feel like the world is ending, but I promise you it’s not over yet. #UNMATCHED #Match2024
