Fantastic book by an excellent historian. Kane’s work unpacks shifting material and political conditions and how native women and their labor shaped and were shaped by emerging Atlantic networks, revealing patterns Haudenasaunee sovereignty. I also picked up 3 new ones today 😅

@manthonycrowder I didn't really have a concept in mind for the cover and the design folks at @CornellPress did such a great job! The coloring is from the original daguerrotype and the woman pictured and what she's wearing are the subject of the last chapter, the photo sums up the book so well

Huge fan of the cover design of this new book by @MaeveKane! The sepia-ish tone works, the vertical title text layout is interesting, and most importantly the (amazing) primary source image is the star of of the show. Looking forward to reading.

I'm surprised but pleased that the Schuyler statue is coming down--never thought that wd even be on the table. Besides being one of Albany's major slaveowners, Schuyler was also one of the architects of the 1779 Sullivan Campaign against the Six Nations. twitter.com/MayorSheehan/s…
