The thing with Gerard Martin at LCB is that it suit him better because, although he is rapid in his processing speed, he has a very slow execution speed due to his high centre of gravity. As I said before, I understand the Gerard Martin LCB experiment because he has diagonal perception and can access harder-to-see-angles with more time and space for his body to execute the great-brain dictated-actions, since centre-backs are not pressed as hard. Full-backs are the easiest to press. You need to think fast and be technically solid or outsmart opponents when playing there. Gerard Martin needs more time and space to do that, and he gets that when playing as a centre-back. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you have Gerard Martin as an option for left centre-back, Jofre Torrents automatically needs to be integrated to keep Balde’s legs fresh throughout the whole season.
