@kariona_grabi @SpaghettiKozak Yeah the guy with a 30k audience somehow convinced 10 million voters to stay home instead of voting for a candidate that promised to continue helping Israel commit genocide, that was totally it.

@anthonyzenkus So something like Zionist Israel has, I guess. Not a fan of Israel at all, but in exchange for service, Israeli citizens get nationalized health care, subsidized housing, and free/subsidized higher education. We can't even manage to nationalize free school lunches in the US.

Gavin Newsom thinks the US should have mandatory military service for young people. Apparently the Democrats have completely written off younger voters. Good to know.
Power to the People ☭🕊@ProudSocialist

Holy shit! In addition to pledging his allegiance to Israel in this Politico interview Gavin Newsom also said the US should have mandatory military service. He just completely cooked his presidential campaign in one interview. Never Newsom!

@barua_ashish Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. In a non monetary economy, aka barter, there is no inflation. If you do not understand that you will have no understanding of inflation.

Every time I look at this chart, it just exposes how shallow mainstream economics really is when it comes to inflation. They keep hiding behind the lazy “money printing” myth, as if repeating it enough makes it true. Meanwhile, they completely ignore what’s actually driving these price explosions: corporate power, pricing control, privatisation of essentials, and deliberate policy choices. This isn’t ignorance anymore, it’s a convenient narrative. The so-called experts use it as a shield to protect market actors while everyday people get squeezed, with higher costs for healthcare, education, housing, and things you can’t opt out of. And somehow, they still want you to believe it’s all because “too much money” is in the system. No, it’s not about money supply. It’s about who has the power to set prices, and who’s forced to pay them.

The answer is that we didn't slaughter 30,000 of their own people, and also their people are asking us to do so, and also their government has no actual authority to rule over their population in the first place. Take your pick any one of them is sufficient in all of them are true.

I hate to keep harping on it but this very much reminds me of my conversation with Ross Douthat. These people have no answer and go completely blank when confronted head-on with the question, "What gives you the right to determine a foreign country's form of government?"

“We are killing people. The United States is killing people.” Drop Site’s @RyanGrim challenged Newsmax to explain why the U.S. gets to decide Cuba’s future, describing the horrifying impact of the U.S. blockade, which is punishing civilians and rapidly collapsing daily life across the country.

Ukraine hitting Russia’s oil production capacity right now, which very much helps Iran and hurts the US by spiking oil prices after Trump burned so much money manipulating futures markets to keep them down, might be a last straw for him.

@ThisIsMichaelK @cabsav456 A pardon includes an admission of guilt, if you're guilty of doing something you're not entitled to reparations for what you did because then we're creating incentives for crime.

@cabsav456 the pardon didn't erase the substantial financial, reputational, and no doubt emotional harms the unethical prosecution imposed on him. he should be compensated. wouldn't you wish to be if you were in the same situation, regardless of the administration in power?

So let me get this straight. The previous administration criminally prosecuted Michael Flynn. Michael Flynn pleaded GUILTY to the charges. Then Trump 2.0 pardons Michael Flynn. Flynn sues the previous administration for politically motivated prosecution. ...And the current Trump administration is settling the lawsuit with taxpayer dollars an UNDISCLOSED amount of $. There needs to be a law against this kind of self-dealing. This is absolutely maddening.
Zoe Tillman@ZoeTillman

NEW: DOJ has reached a financial settlement with Michael Flynn, the conservative activist and former Trump adviser who sought millions for what he alleged was a politically motivated prosecution. No $ details in court notice today, more to come buff.ly/ccz6Hj3 Prev: buff.ly/sWZrlKV

@Ravioli628 @alanthefisher High property taxes also prevent young people from being able to afford rent on stores and offices which means less small businesses get started and less economic activity in a locality.

Because a decent chunk of Real Estate in this country relies on cheap gas. Its only accessible via car, and because of its low density its built far away from real job centers. This means that the value of these properties would tank if the price of gas/energy rises to the point where commuting from these places costs more than the saved value of moving out here to own these homes

Idk why gas prices are so culturally salient in america. You could drive an hour a day and it probably comes to less than $3k/year. Is it because they put the price on billboards along the road?
