This is the last known photo of Nicola Tesla. On 7th January 1943, Tesla died alone in the New Yorker Hotel. By the end of his life, he was penniless and had become a vegetarian living on only milk, bread, honey, and vegetable juices.

Sitting here with the team and they reminded me that 4 years ago today we placed our first equipment into our Turtle Creek factory when we brought our production back from China. None of this equipment is currently in operation. Real people doing Amazing Work!

That story about Tesla tearing up the contract isn’t true as he was paid a lump sum of $216k in lieu of royalties. But Tesla did have great respect for Westinghouse and his integrity. Nobody seems to question how a penniless Tesla is able to live in a NY hotel: Westinghouse arranged for Tesla to stay there for as long as he lived.
