A) a bust. Like crypto/blockchain before it, it mostly fizzles out, minus some random use cases like paper summaries, coding assist, or a tool for cheating on HW.
B) the internet. AI changes the nature of the economy, shifting away from classical knowledge work to more service work, and maybe increases productivity by a few percent.
C) the Industrial Revolution. AI renders vast fields of work obsolete. Maybe new jobs take their place, maybe they don’t, maybe we all die, but the world post-AI will look extremely different.
