Earlier today, we visited the victims of the Oriire LGA kidnapping incident where they are receiving treatment in Ibadan. We will continue to provide the necessary support needed for their full recovery and reunite them with their families. We also remember civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during this process, our administration will ensure that they did not die in vain. May their souls rest in peace and may God continue to comfort their families.

July 10, 2026 Press Statement @OfficialPDPNig BoT Chairman, Wabara Commends FG, Makinde over Rescue of Oyo Abduction Victims The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commends the Federal Government, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and our security agencies for the rescue and safe return of teachers and school children who were abducted in Orire, Oyo State. The BoT salutes the courage, gallantry, display of professionlism and strategic synergy among our security agencies in overwhelming the abductors and rescuing the school children and their teachers. The Board specially commends Governor Makinde for his unrelenting efforts and exceptional show of leadership, especially in providing the essential administrative support for the required tactical synergy of operation that led to the successful rescue. While rejoicing with the families of the rescued children and their teachers for their safe return, the BoT charges the Federal Government to intensify efforts towards the rescue of other Nigerians including children and women who were abducted in other parts of the country. The Board also urges the federal and sub-national governments to strengthen efforts towards ensuring security in our schools, communities and cities, particularly in areas where Nigerians have become soft targets. Makinde Enters 2027 Presidential Race with Bold 'Hard Reset' Agenda for Nigeria. Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde @seyimakinde officially declared his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election at the Unity Mega Rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan on May 14, 2026.  His address during the declaration focused heavily on a "hard reset" for Nigeria, building a stronger multi-party democracy, and introducing a tactical political coalition.  One of the most significant announcements in the speech was the official strategic alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM). Makinde stated that this alliance will allow them to field joint candidates across all levels of government ("top to bottom") to present a formidable alternative to the ruling party.  Engr Makinde sharply criticized the ruling administration, the All Progressives Congress (APC), @OfficialAPCNg accusing them of meddling in opposition party affairs to force Nigeria into a one-party system.
