.@MaMoPanel’s analysis of news coverage of the @_AfricaUnion Kampala Declaration in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa suggests that public discourse on the Declaration has so far focused more on production and food security, with less attention to governance, inclusivity, and climate resilience. The Recipes for Success report underscores the need for stronger communication and advocacy strategies to ensure a balanced narrative and broad ownership of all six commitments. Our #MaMoForum provides a platform to do exactly that: facilitate dialogue and exchange among high-level decision-makers, and promote policy innovation grounded in evidence produced by Panel experts. The Forum Co-Chairs, H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki (@NEPAD_Mayaki) and H.E. Dr. Assia Ben Salah Alaoui, joined the conversation to launch this report in support of the Kampala Declaration commitments. Africa remains a net food importer, spending around US$50 billion annually on food imports, a figure projected to exceed $90 billion by 2030. Expanding agrifood trade presents a clear opportunity to strengthen markets for producers, traders, and agri-processing SMEs and industries. A @MaMoPanel case study from #Tanzania illustrates this potential. It shows how integrated policy reforms helped unlock over 100,000 metric tons of new sunflower seed processing capacity among medium- and large-scale firms, significantly reducing edible oil imports. Increasing #Africa’s agrifood output by 45%. To achieve this under @_AfricanUnion’s Kampala Declaration by 2035, @MaMoPanel highlights lessons from proven country‑level interventions that can help move the needle. In #Ghana, for example, solar dryer initiatives have reduced mango post‑harvest losses from 40% to 5%, increasing the incomes of participating mango producers by over 180%. The Panel recommends that countries incentivize the adoption of renewable energy technologies combined with smart water management. More recipes for succes: mamopanel.org/media/uploads/…

As far as agrifood systems financing is concerned, @RwandaAgri has consistently been on track since 2017 in implementing the @AUC_CAADP. The @BRDbank provides a concrete example of how financing can support agrifood systems transformation. As of 2024, BRD had allocated USD 11 million in financing to farmers, cooperatives, and agriculture-based SMEs, of which 78% was allocated for primary production and 18% for commercial post-harvest activities.
