@Man78G @stevemagness But they got to go as a family and bond. Stop envying others. My neighbors just came from a cross country event in a really nice place. The whole family. Two years ago, another family went to Fance because the don was playing friendlies with a french youth team.

Can someone explain why some 10 year old needs to travel hundreds of miles for competition that they almost certainly could have found locally? Travel leagues for youth sports should be banned.

@stevemagness Because the cost involved is an intentional barrier to entry. It’s an invisible gate whereby parents self select the other families who they want involved in their children’s lives. If it wasn’t travel sports, it would be something else.

I used to LOVE March Madness… Took “sick days” every year on Thursday + Friday, posted at a bar with 4 screens all day. This year I don’t even care enough to fill out a bracket (but picking Michigan) Wtf happened… did I get older or did it just stop hitting the same?
