Hi @ThembaGwejela, on SABC Plus, does it cost SABC money to have those temporary channels? For example, there are currently channels for the Madlanga Commission and the Ad Hoc Committee. Why is it difficult to do the same for sports that you already have rights to, like the PSL?

@Nampree She stepped down as VC in 2023 but remained associated with the university until 2024 through the Faculty of Education hence she kept the title. Currently, she is not a professor. All I am saying is that she is correct until UCT bestows an honorary professorship, she remains Dr.

@Nampree Nope, that’s not true. Every retired professor loses the title unless the university bestows an honorary professorship as Professor Emeritus, which UCT has not done in her case.

Government is currently the sole shareholder, so bringing in private investors would require changing the law, and it could compromise the SABC’s public service mandate as a free to air.
