There’s a legacy of hesitancy centered in a shameful history of scientific misconduct which we need to understand & digest for successful implementation w/in #BIPOC communities. As a public health physician of color, I have an invested interest in this #ThisisOurShot #IGotTheShot

The neural, endocrine, immune & psychological effects of gratitude are robust & many. Contrary to popular belief, however, the vast majority of research shows that *receiving or observing* (rather than giving) gratitude is what induces these positive effects. #science

@doctormaxine 100% agreement. The crisis is systemic. Shelters are but one of the necessary tools needed. Supportive housing, integrated health services, case management; understanding the components of a problem allows us to formulate solutions that will more likely sustain over time.

This is incredible work! It’s clear we are on the right track. Shelters are necessary but they are not the solution to our houseless crisis. Investing in people who can help navigate the system and sustained investments in housing works. #HousingForAll #Compassion

Violence breeds trauma. Fear triggers instinct. Tribalism harbors racism. Supporting charitable orgs that acknowledge intersectionality as well as highlight the need for mental health services better ensures equitable care. globalcitizen.org/en/content/way…

@DrAyanaJordan People have disease. No one is a disease. Reducing someone to a caricature dehumanize their condition and circumstances, making them susceptible to discrimination and further despair

Ensuring quality improves health outcomes, and the needs of our BIPOC communities continue to be misunderstood. We can do better. Cultural contexts and expectations frame the clinical encounter for each and every patient. Let's ensure equitable care for all Oregonians. @OHAOregon
Emily Green@GreenWrites

Most Oregonians of color don’t rely on Anglo-centric providers for behavioral health care, according to a new report from @colorcoalition and @OHAOregon. They're more likely to opt for religious figures, traditional healers and other community-based orgs. thelundreport.org/content/oregon…
