@Strickomaster It’s a difficult one, we shouldn’t be encouraging unpaid overtime but I have attended trips, run after school clubs and helped staff residential trips all through good will. However the benefits it has brought me in building relationships has also been hugely beneficial.

Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles. Autumn has arrived and I am on the lookout for a group of animals, some of which I have never seen before. I meet new people and make life long friends. I also film a kingfisher 4 the very first time (yes I know, I have never seen one before!) #wildlife

I get so frustrated at the public tropes towards teachers' holidays 😔 it's extremely ignorant. I could create a whole thread on this. 🧵 It's not a 'joke' when people make comments. You shouldn't even be thinking about saying it. Sorry... Miss Hadley never normally rants! 🫣 X

I have loved being back in the classroom so far this year. Although there are still many challenges I love how this year has started. Enjoying just being able to share the love of my subject and getting to know our new pupils!

@BBCBreakfast I’m confused, hasn’t there been one and nobody actioned the recommendations? Surely those victims that gave evidence shouldn’t have to go through the trauma of an inquiry again. Implement the recommendations then review as the changes are made if anything else need to be done.

@PaulReadGB I know what you mean. I have rescued 4 dogs over the years but my work and housing situation wouldn’t allow me to adopt a dog. This is despite many years of taking often older dogs who most people overlook for a home and ensuring they have a much happier, loving couple of years

It's a great idea, rescue a dog, don't buy a pup. If only it were so easy. My age is wrong. My house is wrong. My car is wrong. My politics are wrong. My activities are wrong. I wouldn't make it through the front door of a rescue centre, despite owning Labradors for decades. No wonder rescue centres struggle to rehome. I'll be going to a reputable breeder.

@BellaWallerstei A two tier system stifles aspiration where young people feel that cannot excel because their family don’t have the money for a private education. Or where they ‘fail’ 11 plus and feel not clever enough to get into the grammar schools. This is so detrimental for our young people

Kemi Badenoch this morning: “taxing education is wrong. It is against our principles. We would reverse the VAT hike.” Quite right. Taxing education stifles aspiration and limits choice. It is a barrier to opportunity.

@Strickomaster Totally agree with this it makes such a difference. We are a dept of 6 which I know for geography is unusual but we each plan a different year group print resources for all etc. We also have the ability to differentiate as we need to. Absolute game changer!

@RishiSunak It’s not most working people who are affected, they are generally not sending the children to private school, flying private jet, buying second homes or inheriting expensive property. It’s a fair plan to get the country out of the mess that happened on your watch!

@KEdge23 You must have watched a different budget and not heard what the OBR have said about the increased debt during the Tory’s time in government. It was a budget that doesn’t penalise ordinary people trying to make a living but will hit those like Rishi Sunak.

Rishi Sunak was right all along. Broken promises and higher taxes, that’s what you get with Labour. #Budget2024

Year 2 classes came in today after a visit from a strange creature over night! Wrecked the class room but left a lot of clues as to who it could be. Then we read our new book ‘There’s no Dragon in this story!’ They had such a good time investigating @LiftAnglesey @McAuliffeSteph

@MandyDavidson21 @TeacherBusy Then I am wondering… How are behavior management processes handled at the college? I’m curious if consistent behavior expectations are maintained in the classroom. It’s important to actively teach the desired behaviors and have processes or strategies in place when needed.

You’ve got a tricky class. 3 or 4 pupils behaving inappropriately, if you have to give each one 3 “consequences” before they’re removed from your lesson you’ve already stopped teaching between 9-12 times to deal with them. Unacceptable.

@AnthonyPoppa @TeacherBusy I think this in reference to one ‘tricky’ class and I’m pretty sure most of us have one. I have 14 classes this year and despite my routines, structure and expectations being the same, the outcome isn’t always unfortunately.

@TeacherBusy What’s your classroom routines/ structures like? Is the behaviour, task related? Have you taught and then reminded them how you want their behaviour to look and sound in your room? How often do you praise their efforts? Did you follow up with them during/ after class?

@vicgoddard @UCL_Holocaust It’s such a difficult visit but so important to see and experience. The tour guides really do an excellent job of sharing what happened and are so respectful of everyone’s stories. It frustrated me that not all visitors respected the requests for silence/no photos in some places.

Visiting Auschwitz today. My anxiety is through the roof as I know we will see the worst of human existence and the devastation unabated hatred brings. Anyone with a nazi logo tattoo etc should be forced to come here @UCL_Holocaust

@doctorshaib @Haggis_UK I heard her do the same in the radio and was very impressed. Not just by her reassurance and compassion but the recognition that she benefitted from where she grew up. There is a clear, believable, commitment to make sure that regional disparity is tackled.

@Haggis_UK Cannot remember the last time we had an Education Secretary who had such a presence. She modestly mentioned her results and then quickly went on to reassure and comfort students who may not have got the grades they needed.
