The paper itself is terrible so I don't need this 'fake reference' issue to justify rejection - but clearly this pushes it from 'bad paper' to 'fraud'. WWYD?

So I'm reviewing a manuscript... Authors cited me - cool. But wait - the cited paper does not exist 🤔 It lists coauthors who are real people I have published with + a real journal that I have published in, with a title that sounds plausible - but is totally made up 🧵

WOW: A study involving 1.7 million children has found that myocarditis and pericarditis only appeared in children who had received Covid mRNA vaccines. Not a single unvaccinated child in the group suffered from these heart-related problems. This is absolutely shocking.
