if you’re thinking about the draft this series is a pretty cruel filter lol

You gotta be kidding me with these Towns fouls. How about like, getting open for a pass instead of trying to cheat the game, which by the way he's not good at?

@JerryEngelmann Are the 24 guys listed meant to be reflective of any ranking or category in particular?

Here are percentile ranks in combine test results for players of the 2026 NBA draft class (compared to all drafted players since 2010) Michigan's Morez Johnson ranks in the 74th percentile, or better, across the board 👀 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d… x.com/JerryEngelmann…

Excited about wingspan? I took a deep dive into historical data to determine which combine stats actually help predicting NBA impact. Plus, which prospects helped and hurt their stock the most with their test results roycewebb.com/p/nba-combine-…

@The_BBall_Index Any chance you could add 3pt shot making to the criteria and see who remains?

@NateDuncanNBA @DannyLeroux Miami has been (unsuccessfully) trying to land a ‘whale’, on its own terms, since the bubble. Would you (they wouldn’t) consider attempting to pay a kings ransom (maybe to the kings) for a whale in the draft? Further, why is that whale hometown winning machine Cameron Boozer

What would you like @DannyLeroux and me to discuss in our upcoming Eastern Conference mailbag? Reply with your questions, and we'll answer them on our next episode.

@flasportsbuzz When you resist any form of strategic planning other than cap management you can’t say with integrity that you are pursuing any kind of meaningful playoff success and certainly claim to be pursuing any form of genuine championship contention.

@flasportsbuzz Appreciate this reporting, though it really is maddening. I would love someone ask Pat this question this year: “What is the main thing for the Miami Heat?” I think the only answer that could be given without a compromise of integrity is “to play winning basketball”.

Though two other prominent Heat media members publicly implored Riley to speak more in the past 24 hours - and though we mentioned the benefits of the owners and Pat talking a bit more in this piece below - upon further reflection, I've concluded it's not really essential because we know the team philosophy and plan, as we detail below. Fans just need to accept the 10 commandments below or do other things with their time. For media and fans, complaining might be cathartic, but it does no good. This is the franchise's approach and it's not changing. So enjoy the nights they win, the play-in pursuit and accept the reality of the rest.

NEW: An in-depth look at how the Heat adhered to 10 commandments this week, and thoughts on 3 worrisome consequences of doing so miamiherald.com/sports/spt-col… I went in the lab & studied the odds of Miami getting back to greatness if it refuses to "take its medicine" What I discovered

@NateDuncanNBA It appears MIA tread water for 4+ years waiting to swing on its whale, and got there with only 2 tradeable firsts and 1 second. In your assessment, how bad is the vision and strategy of that FO?

@Major_Passons @GregSylvander That hasn’t happened. I mean you guys and others harassing Brett for his reporting, and the same crap being directed at Woj and Cronin in 23. You have the connections and platform to be respectable, but what you put out is barely distinguishable from faceless click farmers.

@NateDuncanNBA @DannyLeroux The Heat don’t have enough minutes for all the guys important to their franchise (Jovic, Pelle, Showtime suffering particularly, and Kasparas when he is ready). How would you attempt to ‘consolidate’, and do you think this FO could ever make a trade for the sake of assets alone?

@Manicasan_ Standard errors (uncertainty) are still very large at this point. 3y RAPM and xRAPM - both are also on the site - probably point a more accurate picture. I've only watched him with emphasis on offense. That part looks pretty good. His high 2p% reduces fastbreak points against

@Sam_Vecenie Surely it would be easier to hide payments through those methods. However, if effectively hiding the payments from the media/league also meant hiding them from the IRS and/or corporate regulators it would entail the possibility of criminal liability - a bridge too far IMO

The main thing that this made me question even beyond the Clippers/Kawhi of it all (we’ll see what the league does there): Would it be even easier to hide what’s described here (and involve fewer people) via difficult-to-trace, anonymous crypto intermediaries nowadays?
Pablo Torre Finds Out@pablofindsout

Exclusive: Steve Ballmer's $50M funding of Aspiration allowed the fraudulent green bank to pay Kawhi Leonard $7M/year for a "no-show job," according to internal emails, contracts, bank statements and interviews. "What you're implying is that Ballmer's investment was a sweetener."

@flasportsbuzz Never forget Barry, Austin Reaves is going to make it to FA no matter what. They are guaranteed to have at least someone worth spending (IMO) $35M+ on. You could argue he’s not “great” (I’d disagree) but signing that dude with nothing but cap space is a massive plus.

Bringing back Duncan on multi-year deal -- now a possibility - would further erode the cap space for 2026 that was already eroded by Davion's deal yesterday. So 2026 space, for whatever value it had, would not be a thing if it ends up this way, which is a change from original plan. (Nobody great might make it to free agency anyway.)

@Sam_Vecenie @MotorCityHoops For when you get to the draft, would love to hear your thoughts about Nolan Traore’s jump shot contesting and blocks numbers - because if they translate they are pretty special. I will also note his measurements are very similar to Derrick White across the board.
