Great points here. One thing I'd add is Twitter really got worse when the default view was no longer just tweets of people you follow in chronological order. Once it got algorithmized as the default view it got worse. I use exclusively lists to avoid this, but avg Joe doesn't.

@flasportsbuzz When you resist any form of strategic planning other than cap management you can’t say with integrity that you are pursuing any kind of meaningful playoff success and certainly claim to be pursuing any form of genuine championship contention.

@flasportsbuzz Appreciate this reporting, though it really is maddening. I would love someone ask Pat this question this year: “What is the main thing for the Miami Heat?” I think the only answer that could be given without a compromise of integrity is “to play winning basketball”.

Though two other prominent Heat media members publicly implored Riley to speak more in the past 24 hours - and though we mentioned the benefits of the owners and Pat talking a bit more in this piece below - upon further reflection, I've concluded it's not really essential because we know the team philosophy and plan, as we detail below. Fans just need to accept the 10 commandments below or do other things with their time. For media and fans, complaining might be cathartic, but it does no good. This is the franchise's approach and it's not changing. So enjoy the nights they win, the play-in pursuit and accept the reality of the rest.

@Manicasan_ Standard errors (uncertainty) are still very large at this point. 3y RAPM and xRAPM - both are also on the site - probably point a more accurate picture. I've only watched him with emphasis on offense. That part looks pretty good. His high 2p% reduces fastbreak points against

@Sam_Vecenie Surely it would be easier to hide payments through those methods. However, if effectively hiding the payments from the media/league also meant hiding them from the IRS and/or corporate regulators it would entail the possibility of criminal liability - a bridge too far IMO

The main thing that this made me question even beyond the Clippers/Kawhi of it all (we’ll see what the league does there): Would it be even easier to hide what’s described here (and involve fewer people) via difficult-to-trace, anonymous crypto intermediaries nowadays?

@flasportsbuzz Never forget Barry, Austin Reaves is going to make it to FA no matter what. They are guaranteed to have at least someone worth spending (IMO) $35M+ on. You could argue he’s not “great” (I’d disagree) but signing that dude with nothing but cap space is a massive plus.

Bringing back Duncan on multi-year deal -- now a possibility - would further erode the cap space for 2026 that was already eroded by Davion's deal yesterday. So 2026 space, for whatever value it had, would not be a thing if it ends up this way, which is a change from original plan. (Nobody great might make it to free agency anyway.)
