The councillors backed an emergency measure directing that works at Boro Park should not proceed.
The legislation was invoked under section 139 of the Local Government Act (2001), which directs an elected council that works shall not proceed on a proposed site.

@IrishinEurVoice The mayoral fund referred to above was specifically created for the directly elected mayor role. Before the role was introduced in 2024, funding was allocated by the council + chief exec. Last year, €10.5m were allocated to the mayoral fund.

Limerick mayoral funding breakdown incoming. Total investment a bit over €14m, with the largest allocation going towards housing with nearly €6.5m.
