India VC / Founder Twitter - can you please explain what the point of a “tracking check” for cross border startups in AI / deep tech is? I.e. a small non-meaningful check put into a company to establish relations with the founder. By definition, if a company breaks out, then they have access to massive pools of capital and marquee VCs in the US, and it’s unlikely they will let you double down in the next round. But if a company isn’t doing well, then you not participating in the next round sends a negative signal to potential investors given that you’re an insider.

Most founders would retire. They waited out a non-compete. Then built again. Sold one ice cream empire. Built another — faster. That’s not a comeback. That’s compounding.

13 consumer categories in India that are either blowing up or about to- 1/ Pet care doubled from $1.8B to $3.6B in 4 years. projected $7.5B by 2028. supertails raised $20M+. Drools is at ₹40K Cr. but nobody's doing fresh pet food delivery (huge in the US via Ollie, Farmer's dog), pet insurance, or pet-friendly travel. The pets have moved from the balcony to the bed; they are dependents now

Till now, the gold standard of customer experience for me was what we created at Urban Ladder in mid 2010s. Happy to see @my_mokobara taking the torch forward. My 2.5 old luggage cracked and they just replaced it without haggling 🥹

The smartest kid in my school in Pune ended up working at a regulatory consulting firm. The smartest kid from UPenn in my class ended up becoming an MD at BCG. Consulting is a great for finishing school for type A high IQ folk - but the trap is staying on too long and getting stuck there.
