🪶🚨TREE SPARROW UPDATE!🚨🪶 Last week we held a ringing session in an unharvested sunflower field… the results blew us away! We ringed 69 birds of which the highlights were 14 #TreeSparrow & 10 #ReedBunting. These are the first Tree Sparrow ringed on #IOM 🇮🇲 in a decade! @_BTO

Tonight’s full moon made for an interesting nocturnal survey! #LongEaredOwl & #BarnOwl seen hunting over stubble fields. Shallow wet scrapes created by the farmer had #JackSnipe #Snipe #Mallard #Teal on them #Woodcock #Skylark #Fieldfare all ringed under @_BTO & @iomdefa licence.

Last night I was surveying farmland birds in a stubble field on the #IsleofMan 🇮🇲. I ringed 18 #Skylark out of 25 seen & 1 #JackSnipe out of 4 seen. These habitats are fantastic areas for birds to feed and roost throughout the winter months. Ringed under @_BTO & @iomdefa licence.

Fantastic shallow scrapes created by a farmer and @ManxAgriEnviro has resulted in waders including #Snipe feeding through the night over the winter months. Last night’s treats were quite late records for #Woodcock & #JackSnipe. Ringed under licence through the @_BTO & @iomdefa.
