This post by @Starlight_Bo is well-intentioned — but it deserves a candid response. Asking voters to maintain a 2×2×2 formation by steering their vote away from a cleared, qualified candidate is not balance. It is managed bias. It sets a troubling precedent for Union elections.

No position is constitutionally reserved & across the board people from different backgrounds are freely contesting every role. Even the “balance” we’re being asked to protect wasn’t designed, it emerged because doctors voted independently and the outcome happened to be diverse.

Leadership is competence, integrity, and delivery — not a demographic calculation. Once we turn elections into cadre arithmetic, we stop asking who can deliver and start negotiating who should take a turn. That’s how institutions weaken.

A petition challenging the KMPDU elections was originally filed in Kakamega but transferred to Nairobi before Justice Nderitu, causing delays in the physical file movement. The petition challenges the lawfulness of the basis upon which upcoming elections are to be conducted.

This candidate asked for my geolocation. I shared. Few days later, she accuses me for not being a Union member, for not being from the same branch as her, for not being in the voters register & most shockingly she attacked me for not being from a specific tribal ancestry. Awuoro!

A candidate who is not on the ground critiquing other candidates for not being on the ground is some ignorant stuff. Then going ahead to lie about a "tuko ground" moment is bamboozling. Who is advising these people?
