Strengthening Civil Society for Transparent Governance in Garissa County! Yesterday, Muslim women Advancement of Rights and Protection (MWARP), under the #RITAIProject supported by @UraiaTrust through @NorwayInKenya , convened a capacity strengthening forum for Garissa-based Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), focusing on the #AccessTo_Information_Act_2016 and the critical role CSOs play in promoting #transparency and improving public #service delivery. Representatives from various NGOs, CBOs, and civil society networks across Garissa County were in attendance. We were also honored by the presence of the NGOs Coordination Board Chair, who officially invited Garissa CSOs to the upcoming Public Participation Act forum on 19th June 2025. 🗣️ Key Highlights: Institutionalizing access to information for transparency and accountability. Strengthening CSO advocacy for open governance and citizen empowerment. Promoting community-led strategies for sustainable civic engagement. Uniting CSOs to foster synergy and avoid duplication. ✅ Resolutions & Action Points: Develop a joint memorandum highlighting community priorities for the 2025/2026 county budget. Establish a quarterly CSO coordination forum to share updates and collaborate. Enhance partnerships for collective advocacy and stronger civic influence. Commit to ongoing capacity building on laws and policies that advance civic space.
