@fksambennett Wondering if there are other teams that are tight with the cap and need to sign some of their core pieces

@fksambennett Thanks for the context. I see. Hoping Chayka targets Harley or someone who is a top pairing D.

@bymikestephens I think Leafs are trying to Mimic what Colorado Avalanche have done with Joe Sakic (former Avalanche player) -Chris MacFarland (Data guy).

@tavkniesnythews Agreed. I recall Sakic struggling mightily until he hired McFarland. And Yzerman had Brisebois in Tampa . He probably needs to find another Brisebois in Detroit.

@Mappiah846 It’s similar yes. Sakic was smart and got a GM. Yzerman in Detroit not so much lol

Elliotte Friedman on 32TP this morning. Says it’s very clear that when you look at Sundin it’s clear he’s proud to be a Maple Leaf, he loves the team, the organization, he’s come back several times and spoken up in defence of the players and has talked about how much of a privilege it is to wear that jersey and represent the organization. The organization felt that the mindset had slipped this year and the pride in wearing the jersey had fallen. They wanted to find someone at the top that lived and breathes that pride (Mats Sundin). Says he believes the role will be Vice President of Hockey Operations. EF said it took some time, but he thinks the Leafs are now negotiating with him to do it. Says that Scott White and John Chayka were finalists but says that if Sundin is in - he believes it’ll be John Chayka as GM. #LeafsForever

The Anti-Toronto narrative Continues to be nauseating. Has any American basketball analyst given the Raptors any credit at all? Or is it just what Harden and Mitchell are doing wrong? @NBA @WindhorstESPN @mcten

@TheCynick @Thebigfaceoff Ofcourse teams are not solely relying on data. But to merely say go get 'tough' guys are the reasons the Burke era and Treliving era failed miserably.

@Mappiah846 @Thebigfaceoff Everyone has analytics. There’s no evidence Florida relied more on it than other teams. That’s a made up narrative by the analytics crowd to get the nerds in GM spots.

It seems Kyle Dubas has worked his magic again; building a team that can handle the regular season and make the playoffs, but can’t translate it when it matters most. He pulled off the same act for five years with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

@TheCynick @Thebigfaceoff Florida won back to back championships and they heavily relied on analytics. Same with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lol

@Thebigfaceoff Analytics doesn’t work in the playoffs. The sample size is too small and gets dismissed over regular season. They also often count games in October when players are still going through the motions vs Mar and Apr when games are tight.

I max dosed psyllium husk but did not expect this. For the past 28 days, I've maxed out on psyllium husk, taking two tablespoons 3x a day, and it's quietly changed my life. Here's what it did to my body:

@BigBlindBets13 @haralabob Teams need to hire better front office executives. That's the main issue. Look at Sacramento. Maybe the mandate is for the league to step in if they continue to hire incompetent executives.

@haralabob Not about being fair at all. Its about what works. They need to stop the crazy tanking but just a small tweak. Having 5-7 teams/fan bases having no chance to compete or ever get a superstar doesnt work for the NBA. Would make the league alot worse

The draft should be abolished, but since that won't happen... NBA Finals teams pick 30th and 29th Conference Finalists pick 28th and 27th Bottom 4 teams pick 26th-23rd (reverse order) Flat lotto odds for everyone else.
Evan Sidery@esidery

There is momentum building behind the idea of NBA Draft Lottery reform making the worst teams own a lower chance at landing No. 1 overall. For example, the bottom four possess worse odds compared to teams finishing 5-8. A clear incentive to win games all season versus tanking.

Want to start using Claude Code for academic research? Or see incredible things other researchers are doing with Claude Code? Here's a thread of 5 great tutorials, skill and projects you can start using right now. I'm also keen to do an online "reading group" to work through these and others every week. Beginners welcome. Let me know below if you're interested. 1/ Chris Blattman shares an entire suite of tools he build in the last 4 weeks:
Chris Blattman@cblatts

4w ago I was a Claude Code skeptic. I'm not a coder. None of the use cases were relevant. I managed teams & projects, drowning in email & overdue reminders. So I tried creating tools that would help me and... holy crap. Now I'm sharing the tools I built: claudeblattman.com

I made a D100 prompting doc that you feed to a Claude project and it conducts the entire D100 process for you > Find ICPs to target based on your service > Find contacts in that ICP, pulled from LinkedIn > Researches the prospect and their company - pulling from their website, blogs, social media > Crafts outreach messaging, personalized to the prospect based on their research > CREATES THE D100 DELIVERABLE FOR YOU !!! Takes hours of dream 100 outreach and condenses it into a 10 minute process Comment "D100" and I'll DM you the doc so you can feed it to your own Claude project

many of you asking me.. While the Leafs may have a more established buffet of fan experiences, none of this is unique to Toronto. Plenty of NHL teams offer the same kinds of perks, only many require group sales with 10, 25, 50 or even 100+ tickets purchased just to qualify.
