@ModernNavy Decommissioned without proper replacements? why is the current UK Gov disarming the country? Seems deliberate considering the level of intelligence vs motive.

What's the worst naval decision of the current government? The shock sale of HMS BULWARK to #Brazil and decommissioning of HMS ALBION would have to rank up there. Here is the former being turned at the mouth of Weston Mill Lake @ModernNavy Via #KatherineClarke

May 1, 1982: The Royal Navy Sea Harriers officially opened their account in the Falklands War, downing an Argentine Mirage. It was the beginning of a legendary run: over the course of the conflict, Sea Harriers flew 1,100 CAP sorties and racked up 23 air-to-air victories. Even more impressively, they came home with zero losses in air-to-air combat. 1/2

2) Considering them low priority targets, the Sea Harriers don't pursue. The Turbo Mentor of Lt Daniel Gustavo Manzella receives a shot through the rear fuselage, but survives the incident and flies off, as the Sea Harriers race on to Goose Green...

May 1st 1982: Three Sea Harriers close on Goose Green and run into a scrambled group of three Turbo Mentor ground attack planes, sent to investigate a SF helicopter landing. Engaging with 30mm cannon, Lt Mike Watson shoots one, forcing the rest to drop payloads and scatter. 1/2

@AeroPaleo Had to cancel my order through Amazon, as the "release date" kept moving from last June, to September, and is now listed as February 2026. I guess all your readers in the UK and EU have time machines?

Anyone from across the pond managed to get hold of #ShapingtheVulcan, yet? I’m aware of a couple of copies that have made it over, at least. “Revelatory” was the description from one (distinguished) recipient, which cheered me up. Delighted to know what you think!
