@MarcTennant@Leafmalone I apologise unreservedly. I admit to being a spelling Nazi. I am in despair of the current education system. It just seems abysmal generally. Congratulations on your role. It wasn’t personal. I was having a grumpy day, I guess. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.
I took the normal approach to not shareing much about the job I have had for the last 2 years. But I have decided this year its time to talk a little of what its like. I was voted by my Colleagues to be the Chair of the Academic Board, the peak academic body of UWA.
@clt555@Leafmalone That is true. What a story actually. I am a severe dyslexic (spending extra time in my schooling years, failing regularly). And yes, Spelling (and letters (shapes) are actually a real problem for me. Despite this I achieved. Never ever give in.
I hot day in Perth today.
Sent this days hiding at home working on up-tooling my coding. VS-Cide, GIT, UV - getting with the program!!! And yes adding a little AI help to coding too!!
@CorinneJohnst15 Oh I will share more photo's of the Perth... It is an astonishingly long way. I have only done the bus to Adelaide a couple of times - a shock at the distance. Hitching a ride with a cruise ship sounds exactly what you need.
@MarcTennant Perth is top of my list of places I want to visit before I die. But I can't face driving from Sydney, husband can't fly (Alpha1 genetic lung disease) wish we could get a ship! Train is $$$$ both ways & apparently doesn't cope well with wheelchairs
I am proud. We just passed the 5th anniversary of the @UWAnews Emeriti Professors College. Been a real journey that contributes to an amazingly talented group of wisdom holders. Love it when idea's come to success. alumni.uwa.edu.au/emeriti-college

I've been away for a good while (6 months) but are planning an "all-new" return
There is always excuses when it comes to taking responsibility for poor care of our most vulnerable. Always excuses! Never responsibility.

Would I have ever thought I would have spent the evening messaging family members who have relatives in the sake aged care as me to say bring some food for your relative. The place has not been able to actually produce appropriate meals today. Australia! Seriously, aged care!
This is the same in aged care - national standards are disconnected from reality. I would argue that national standards be it child care , hospitals, aged care, are a failed regulatory model. They have been captured by business.

When is a recall not a recall? When it is fixed overnight with a software update?? Maybe the law needs to redefine some of these parameters???
