I notice Amazon Prime is inviting me to pay for books in installments. "£27.00/month for 5 months (no fees or interest)". And given the price of some books, perhaps...

Although I've no particular interest or expertise in these things, life as a rural Rector and involvement in other local groups sometimes makes me think a former life as an Arboroculturalist or Bat Survey writer might have been helpful, and perhaps even lucrative.

What do people think about this new trend of restaurants refusing to bring water to your table but instead telling you to go and refill your glass from a stand or jug in the corner? I find it annoying as it disrupts conversation and feels pub-like not restaurant-like.

@Marc_Lloyd The brevity was probably useful today then… but their insistence in cutting out anything difficult it’s desperately annoying!!

@revdmbrown Well, yes, you are probably right. We had an all age service with baptism and I already felt the readings were going on a bit.

Why are we being given bread, bread, bread, bread when we leave the meat, meat in the fridge? Jesus wants us to eat our synoptic sandwiches.

Do u not think Mt thought it imperative 2 have these strange awkward "interventions" delaying the sensible logical order of the passages and making them harder for us?

"a woman widely portrayed back then as a fierce old battleaxe could be pleasant and hospitable – and had time for ‘little people’. You can judge folk a lot by how they act towards those they can get away with treating badly." spectator.com/article/my-deb…

Edwina Currie, speaking about Ann Widdecombe on R4 The World Tonight. Not quite the right tone, if I may say so. And perhaps not the ideal guest. Not fitting for Currie to go on about the sex in her novels etc. Risked seeming a little smug or even snide.

Warning! This post contains a surprising insight which might break the internet. We sometimes hear that councils have little money & can hardly afford their statutory duties. I'm not going 2 go in 2 details, but I am tempted to think that:

@AJWTheology @DrPJWilliams I am always very impressed that he knows stuff! I am kind of hoping he will say something about the Parable of the Sower (Mt 13), Sunday's Gospel, that a conference-goer might tell me, that I can put to use!

The lovely thing about having @DrPJWilliams as your speaker for THINK is that you learn more by the end of breakfast than you usually would at an entire conference.

@AdamMerrivale There are still some nice Rectories going. Of course one couldn't afford to heat or light them, but then there are many candle stubs available.

Ok gang, I need some advice. Tomorrow is our 16th wedding anniversary. The traditional gift for 16 years is wax. Would this be an appropriate gift?
