Today's Black American (Freedmen) inventor is Henry T. Sampson. Sampson co-invented the gamma-electric cell, a device that converts gamma rays into electricity. He also invented a case-bonding system for cast composite rocket propellants and a binder system for propellants and explosives. His technology is used in space exploration and rocket propulsion. #BlackHistoryMonth

YOU are wrong! The 1976 Magnavox Star System was a timer that could switch channels at preset times—it wasn’t a programmable remote control. Joseph N. Jackson’s patented system (U.S. 4,054,911) introduced a programmable control interface capable of storing and transmitting multiple commands. Those aren’t the same thing, dumb ass!

@humanbeingawk @Marcel4Congress Wrong! The first programmable controller was the Magnavox Star System, released in 1976. It allowed users to pre-program the TV to switch to a specific channel at a specific time. Joseph Jackson held patents ( U.S. Patent 4,054,911) for a 'Television Program Sequence Selector.

Today's Black American (Freedmen) inventor is Joseph N. Jackson. Joseph N. Jackson invented the world's first programmable TV controller. His controller allowed users to restrict channels from being watched, schedule when the TV could be used, and permit only certain channels. It would later be expanded to control VCRs, DVRs, cable boxes, and even video games. He laid the foundation for the V-Chip technology that is used to monitor content and restrict channels, typically for children. The cross-capatability of his device preceded later cross-compatible tools such as the universal remote control.
