The Queen is dead. And after such a long life, grief should be balanced by gratitude , sadness measured with thanks. Not all the British are monarchists but almost all of us loved his Queen.

The Queen is the last of a generation who were children at the start of the war and hound adults at the end. Stoic, brave, good humoured. They served - their country, their family. The paid for our freedom and raised is in peace and prosperity. They never whined. Thank you, ma’am
