While we're on the subject of our account name, in case anyone is interested, we are indeed named after the (in?)famous Subsidized Merchant of The Traveller Adventure. 400 tons of ragged excitement in Aramis subsector.

A little over halfway through Moby-Dick. I think I could run a whaling ship with the amount of knowledge packed in there.

@bpardoe870 @TaraBull Met my Swedish friend's new boyfriend this summer. When he said we were going to do just that with a 7m boat I thought we'd spend an hour faffing around. Nope, not even five minutes from driving up to casting off. Including a reverse around a 90° turn due to a boat coming out!

@TaraBull Next week, have him try and back up a boat trailer into the water.

Someday, I’ll own all the Cambridge Ancient History volumes, and when that day comes, I’ll stop collecting books. Maybe.

@MarchHarrier @YiorgiosMatheos Yeah, i find i very quickly lapse into 'writing mode' if i am working on a keyboard, for some reason, but find it easier to focus on the gameplay while using notebooks and pencils

Every time I think I’m gonna get into solo RPGs, I open 1 up and read 5-10 pages and decide against it.

@jpmccarthyjr I just can’t get into the mindset of having a fight or competition with myself. Almost feels like cheating ?

@SandyofCthulhu @GeoGDF01 Andy Hollis? What THE Andy Hollis whose name pops up every time I play Kennedy Approach? (1985 C64 game). Yes, still loving playing it 40 years later! Please thank him if you're in touch. If only my salary for all those shifts I've put in over the years was real!

At MicroProse, one of the top programmers, and a good friend, was Andy Hollis. He had two little girls. I noticed that he didn’t work long long hours, despite the fact that this obviously annoyed the president, Bill Stealey. I mean he would work late for a few weeks near the end of a project. He got the job done. This was back in 1988-1993, when the computer dev culture was very much work round-the-clock. When it was a badge of honor to leave after midnight. One day he told me. “I used to work like that back on Gunship and F-15 Strike Eagle. One day I was home, and my wife showed me pictures of my daughters when they were 2 & 3 and I realized I didn’t remember them at that age. At all. I’d never seen them because I got home after they were asleep.” Andy Hollis looked at me grimly. “Never again.” And as far as I know he never did. Also Andy looks a lot like Tom Cruise but with a human personality.

But then again, I loved the Grundy NewBrain. Just put a LCD display above the keyboard, that's all you need.

If they brought it back, added wifi and a browser, would you buy it?
