So far this morning I've heard from double mastectomy pt, hysterectomy pt, D & C pt, C-section pt - all denied opioids post-op. Tylenol only. They're miserable, yet "experts" continue to tell you all how amazing it is that they no longer need opioids post-op.

@VinoNStrosGal Before even a diagnosis the doctors are asking you if you want to die. What happens when they wont treat the pain and then ask you if you want to die. How are they going to determine whose life is valuable enough to get treatment?

We’ve reached a point where people think they can diagnose suffering through a video clip. Yesterday, I recirculated the ER video, the one of a man begging for help in the waiting room who was later diagnosed with kidney stones. What stayed with me wasn’t just the video itself, it was the response to it. People, many claiming to be doctors and nurses, listening to a few seconds of audio and deciding he didn’t sound like he was really in pain. Deciding he was faking it. No exam. No history. No context. Just judgment. That mindset is exactly why trust in the healthcare system is collapsing. Because pain doesn’t perform. It doesn’t follow a script, and it certainly doesn’t sound the same from one person to the next. And that’s when this got heavier for me. I watched an interview I’ll link in the replies, where Glenn Beck, a political commentator and media host, speaks with Miriam Lancaster, an 84-year-old Canadian woman who said that when she went to the ER for severe pain, a doctor asked her about medical assistance in dying. She later learned the pain was caused by a sacral fracture, an injury her daughter said was entirely treatable. Think about that for a second. Really take a moment and sit with it. A woman in excruciating pain went in looking for answers, and before her injury was meaningfully resolved, assisted death was part of the conversation. Her daughter says she has a zest for life, and Miriam went on to make a full recovery and returned to living the life she clearly still wants to live. And whether people want to argue the details or not, the fact that this is even on the table should stop all of us. Because this isn’t how most of us were taught to understand assisted dying. It was meant for the terminally ill, end-stage conditions, situations where there is no path forward and no recovery left. But now, that line is moving. In places like Canada and Netherlands, the scope of these conversations has expanded to include people living with chronic illness, severe depression, and conditions like ME/CFS. And that raises a question that should make everyone uncomfortable: At what point does “relief from suffering” quietly become “removal of the suffering?” Because here’s the reality many of us are already living. We fight to be believed. We fight to be taken seriously. We fight just to access the medication that allows us some version of a normal life. So what happens when the system stops fighting for you… and starts offering you a way out instead? Although I’m a powerful voice behind an account with just under 15,000 followers, I understand there are voices on this platform with far more reach than mine. That said, this is one of the most important things I will ever say, and I hope this reaches more than just a few hundred people. To the voices with the most reach on this platform, this affects you too. It affects your parents. Your grandparents. And one day, it could affect 🫵🏼 And every single one of us is one diagnosis away from finding out whether our lives are truly valued or devalued in this society of ours.

@VinoNStrosGal This is true and very powerful. How long can we last in situations where pain is not treated and the solution they offer is MAID. They have started the removal of people who are suffering even when they don’t know what is wrong.

But if a dr prescribes legal pain meds for a chronic condition that’s a huge problem. The pain clinics r experimenting on people & threatening to take pain meds away .

@DoraWinterz Many people I knew turned to street drugs or maxxed out their doses of methadone and stay in the system. The same system that won't give out 90 percocet (so people with pain can have a life) will also give 280 mg/day to addicts. Make it make sense!
