AI won’t write a viral post. But it can spot why your last one failed. Prompt: what mismatch exists between the hook, the promise and the payoff in this post? It’s not always the idea that failed. Sometimes it’s the structure that lied. And AI is brilliant at finding it.

@ehdecker @nytimes The really big existential question is, what happens if we let AI’s replicate? That would arguably make them a living species. And living things have rights.

@dereklwalker That’s been the purpose of education since the Industrial Revolution. The problem is that jobs have evolved but the education system hasn’t.

Let's stop pretending. Instead of calling it an "educational system," let's call it what it is "job training." And in doing so, we have to accept the consequences of not educating people but training them for jobs. We are seeing the ripples of this shift even now.

'If you think awards differentiate an agency, you’ve never sat on the client side of a pitch...Awards do not make work better. On the contrary, being so focused on winning them might make work worse.' A solid nuanced contrarian take on awards. linkedin.com/pulse/its-awar…

An idea, no matter how amazing it is, Doesn't matter if there's no common ground between media and creative. How come? Cathedrals in the desert. That’s what we call ideas without a media plan in support. You need people to see the advertising. That is why it is so important to get your media partner in early to discuss the idea. This is how I created some of the best work for PlayStation, Bacardi, and Pepsi. I will be sharing my resources on how to do so with my free workshop next week on 'Comms Strategy'. @ddmlxr @Grace_Kite @shaneoleary1 Fair point. I’ll read through. But that’s part of my point. The table is what does the rounds in the trade press. I’ve read two articles about it, and neither shared any detail or nuance.

@Grace_Kite @shaneoleary1 Ps - I mean no disrespect to you or the author. But over simplified tables like the one above can do more harm than good.

@tomroach If they were listening then the advertising industry would be running campaigns to target these people. Unless your friends don’t believe you and think you’re part of the big lie 😂😉

Does anyone technical have the definite answer you can give people about whether anyone’s listening to their phone’s microphone and then targeting them with ads for the stuff they’re talking about?

It used to be when you said you worked in advertising people told you their favourite ad. Now they tell you about the time they were talking about getting a dog and got served ads for pet insurance.

@tomroach Lots of use by people for their holidays. Food prep too. It’s great for recipe ideas based on what you have in your fridge.

Anyone seen much evidence of ChatGPT and other generative AI products becoming known and used by regular people in their daily lives? (Mostly on here and on LI the discussion and use cases seem fairly B2B and not yet B2C?).

@davetrott More likely that ECD’s will be chosen from social media, as will the COO’s.

Not sure about this logic, when TV advertising first started most ECDs were chosen from TV producers, because they understood how TV worked. (imho it's putting the technology cart before the creative horse)

In ten years, I'm certain every COO worth their salt will have come from IT. Any COO who doesn't intimately understand the IT systems that actually run the business is just an empty suit, relying on someone else to do their job. #GeneKim

If you have a pitch, chemistry call, creds or similar your number one objective is likability. Nobody doesn’t like being listened too. A lot of people don’t really like to listen for too long. Don’t do all the talking.
