@Marcus48523 @wylfcen I honestly think her world building was so poor initially that whether diagon-alley was a place muggles could find but never did, or couldn’t find, wasn’t fully known. I’m not a big fan of Harry Potter though, and don’t hold the world building in very high esteem.
English

@TheActualCrunch @04nbod @wylfcen Huh, that’s interesting! I wonder why she chose that town in particular
English

@Marcus48523 @04nbod @wylfcen Assuming there's not another "wizarding" Dufftown, the films and books anchor it close by.

@JasonSokol3 The real question is why they didn’t just rock up to Watto’s afterwards with Royal Guards (so they could disguise the fact that they were Jedi) and threat to break Watto’s limbs with a hammer. By the time Watto tattles to his Hutt, the party is long gone.
English

In the actual film, Q.G. Jim tries to exchange Anakin’s Formula 1 racecar for two slaves and Watto explicitly shoots it down as a lowball offer

@wylfcen To be entirely fair he just gets on a train (or a Ford Anglia) and turns up. They never actually say its in Scotland
English

@Rhinestonefilms @wylfcen That would make significantly more sense, but isn’t the big wizard shopping center a left turn down a dark alley in London? I’m wondering how they reconcile that and the fact that you need a train to get to the school. Pocket dimensions?

@JustinSadur @DDayFilms Lucas grew up in a Lutheran household so that’s something he would say

@uncledoomer It’ll be safe to eat but the flavor went adios decades ago

@HillAnc49424 @OldeWorldOrder I think “cowboy” in this case is a catch all term for “rugged Western hero”
English

@OldeWorldOrder Not really.
Cowboy serves no - one.
Samurai serves shogun.
English

@Doorman58114425 @OldeWorldOrder That actually stands to reason, since basically the same thing happened in the West between exConfederate soldiers becoming bank robbers and Ex Union soldiers becoming hired guns for industrialists and financiers.
English

@OldeWorldOrder My point is that cowboy ended up being rebels against government tyranny while samurais were enforcers of both government tranny inwardly and piracy, murder, theft, and rape outwardly. If they live in the same country then cowboys and samurai would be natural enemies.
English

@Doorman58114425 @OldeWorldOrder Cowboys were dirty, underhanded, and vicious. When they descended upon frontier towns like Dodge and Tombstones, they were functionally indistinguishable from more professional bandits and many cowboys moonlighted as freight robbers, cross border raiders and rustlers.
English

@OldeWorldOrder Historically the samurai raided, looted, and raped the mainland acting like the worst type of pirates. In their own country their main purposes were to slaughter rebelling citizen who tired of the overly tyrant leadership. Only during war were they somewhat noble.

@DeeToTheThree @TheNameofWar Those are MP who are ostensibly selected for by height and muscle build. You need a brute to wrangle soldiers.

@ImBatman443 @ShitpostGate Did anyone not in the Japanese high command know that?
English

@ShitpostGate The Japanese high command had 0 intentions of invading Australia btw
English

@EricRichards22 Scale of cost makes that difficult, Hallmark movies are cheap because it’s two people wandering around some rented property for a few hours talking to each other.
English

@marklivesthings Virginia doesn’t exercise pocket vetoes? That’s a huge part of most governor’s power over the legislature
