@EWess92 If the text of "a well-regulated militia" has come completely meaningless for the Second Amendment, then the "intent" of what the Constitution matters less than the explicit words.
But it would admittedly be much easier to just reduce the Senate to ceremonial power.

Just as the Constitution is not a suicide pact, nor is a textual or Originalist approach to understanding what the Constitution means blind to word games. Here, that simple misunderstanding (applying an ahistorical acontextual textualism) leads to the wrong result.

@JonahDispatch Which is why I said you need an amendment to change that first. For example: 28th Amendment: Remove "no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate". 29th Amendment: Change or remove the Senate.

In today’s world, unrestricted, automatic birthright citizenship is suicidal.
The Supreme Court could and should have read the Fourteenth Amendment as something other than a suicide pact.
Those who drafted and ratified that provision certainly didn’t regard it as such.
