English, conservative, retrophile. 'Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.'

I've resigned from Reform UK and will continue my campaign in East Kilbride as an Independent. My full letter to Lord @Malcolm_Offord👇 "How can I ask voters to trust my judgement while standing inside a party that will not trust theirs?"

The reason Britain’s relationship with the US is in the toilet is because Starmer played student politics for his own political survival. Granting access to use our bases was a simple courtesy (as the Americans pay for them!). It didn’t mean entering the war. Keir said No to butter up his left wing and so we have alienated the one guarantor of our national security. Without the US we don’t have an independent nuclear deterrent. This stupidity has made Keir feel popular (er, no) but will cause numerous knock-on effects. Emboldening our enemies- Russian subs in the North Sea - for one. Trump is a grudge bearer and we are in trouble.

BREAKING: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth calls out America's allies: "The time for free riding is over." "America and the free world deserve allies who are capable, who are loyal, and who understand that being an ally is not a one way street." "We barely use the Strait of Hormuz as a country. Our energy doesn't flow through there, and we have plenty of energy." "We are not counting on Europe, but they need the Strait of Hormuz much more than we do, and might want to start doing less talking and having less fancy conferences in Europe and getting a boat."

A wild tidbit in the new issue of Foreign Affairs "Some Trump officials have even invoked the former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's dictum "hide your strength, bide your time" to describe their rationale for avoiding confrontation with China"

Young white women think that Britain is racist. Young women of colour, overall, do not. @Scarlett__Mag explains her Gen Z polling.

TRUMP: WE SHOULD LEAVE NATO

Today marks 28 years since the governments of Ireland and the United Kingdom signed the Good Friday Agreement, marking the end of the longest period of conflict in Irish history. As we celebrate the progress that's been achieved, we are reminded of the United States' role as a guarantor of the accord and our responsibility to help Ireland prepare to address a core provision within it: the question of a united Ireland.

Strong hostile analysis of Keir Starmer's handling of the Iran crisis. By placing Labour's Muslim vote & international law ahead of the US-UK special relationship, Starmer has threatened vital US military support for a Britain already ill-armed & vulnerable in future crises.

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.
