Commission confirms Suica will join 1st formal meeting of Trump's Board of Peace on Thursday, as we reported earlier. She will only join the "specific part dedicated to Gaza", and the EU is not joining the Board as member. 🇮🇹🇷🇴🇬🇷🇨🇾 will join as observers. 🇭🇺🇧🇬 are members.

France lashes at the Commission over its Washington trip for Board of Peace meeting - it overstepped its remit. It reflects what we reported yesterday: member states led by France (and Spain equally critical) argued the observer status does not address concerns over the Board’s charter and contradicts the EU’s own assessment circulated last month which also saw fundamental issues over the chairman role self-appointed by Trump. Today I am attending the inaugural Board of Peace event in Washington on behalf of the @EU_Commission. Our objective is clear: coordinated action, accountable governance, and tangible results for the Palestinian people. As the largest international donor to the Palestinian people, we bring a full spectrum of instruments to support the implementation of the Peace Plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803 - from humanitarian relief and early recovery to governance reform and institution-building, to security and economic support. Since 1994, the 🇪🇺 has provided almost €30 billion in assistance to the Palestinian people. Since 2020 we provided nearly €3 billion in financial assistance and €1.8 billion in humanitarian aid.
