The Russia-Ukraine conflict is a sign of Russian weakness, not strength. •A thread covering: •2016 hubris •A renewed NATO •A renewed EU •Economic failure •Diminishing energy influence. #UkraineInvasion

Interesting UK-EU deal dynamic. Impact for fishermen, students, etc - thousands of people directly affected for good or for bad. Impact of much faster border control for holidays and business travel - millions of Brits directly benefit. Political narratives v real life.

@Margin4Error They are just dishonest, they’d be cheering it to the rafters as a brilliant Brexit benefit, that shames all Remoaners if Johnson or Farage had delivered it.

The UK India trade deal, along with trade benefits, means the UK can benefit from civil engineers, software programmers etc (skills shortage sectors), coming here to work and boost our economy... without giving them access to benefits. So why are so many right wingers angry?
Tom Harwood@tomhfh

The Indian tax agreement only applies to Indians seconded to Britain from a company based in India on a short term basis. The arrangement doesn’t apply to Indians applying for jobs in Britain. The UK has treaties to prevent double taxation with 50 countries, listed here👇

If the US government is powerful enough to bully Amazon into hiding tariff costs from its customers, maybe the US government is powerful enough to bully Amazon into paying its fair share in bloody tax!

Are you looking for a thread on the trade deal between the UK and India and the lies some people are telling about it, from a cat? If so, you're weird but in the right place... Yesterday the UK and India announced a new free trade agreement, which it s estimated will add £5bn a year to the UK economy gov.uk/government/new…

Reform fan seems to think that council staff who work with the elderly, care leavers, disabled people, etc to help support them in their communities are wokism that need sacking. This sort of thing is how ignorance kills not the ignorant, but the innocent.
as@sksanglia

@i_iratus As you would expect, @Independent is not telling the truth, they just call them a different name but they still have them.

The Labour Party has long ceased to be the party of the working class. It is now overwhelmingly the political project of the metropolitan middle classes, especially those in the public sector or with institutions, including the law, charities, quangos, NGOs, that feed off public funds.
Restoration@leftrestoration

The council that hosts the miners gala is the canary in the coal mine for the turn of traditional working class voters against us. This is a disaster. We are looking at the end of Labour as the party of the working class. If the leadership don't understand this they must go.

We hear a lot about Trump Derangement Syndrome. This is the official White House account. What next, a picture of him dressed as the Last King of Scotland. This is Idi Amin levels of narcissism and lunacy.

A huge part of reform's success this week was former tory councillors, candidates and members, being voted for by former tory voters, in former tory seats and wards. So... are they just the tory party with a better PR machine?

The French and German systems all cover pre-existing conditions. So don’t tell me things about which I know a lot and you know nothing.
Aafaq@iamaafaq

@afneil I work in the health sector so please don’t try and sell me this one. Insurance based healthcare more often than not doesn’t cover pre existing conditions, what about them patients?

@Margin4Error @afneil What are you even on about? Nobody voted to scrap the Affordable Care Act. The law remains in effect. I suggest you actually do some reading before talking complete nonsense again

@PurplePi3141 @afneil People would never vote for self harm? Really? That's the lesson of the USA where people voted to scrap Obamacare, because media tricked them into not realising the affordable care act they've lied on was it.

@Margin4Error @afneil Because nobody would ever suggest adopting the most inefficient and expensive healthcare system in the world over any alternatives, including keeping things the same. By extension, nobody would vote for it either.
