היום, אותו חלום רחוק ונבואות הנחמה של הנביא זכריה, הן הנוף הנשקף מחלון בירתנו. זקנים וזקנות יושבים בירושלים, ילדים וילדות משחקים ברחובותיה בזמן שגורדי שחקים נבנים, מנופים עולים והכלכלה פורחת. אחרי כמיהה אינסופית, זכינו לפני 59 שנים לשוב אל ירושלים בירתנו הנצחית, ואל יהודה ושומרון חבלי מולדתנו ההיסטוריים.
גם בימים של מלחמה קשה וארוכה, מול אויבים שמבקשים לעקור אותנו מכאן, מדינת ישראל חזקה ונחושה מתמיד להבטיח את נצח ישראל ועתיד הדורות הבאים. כל בית שנבנה בארץ ישראל, כל ילד שצוחק ברחובות ירושלים, כל משפחה שתוקעת יתד ביהודה ושומרון הם הניצחון האמיתי שלנו.
יום ירושלים מזכיר לנו שאנחנו בעיצומו של נס היסטורי. כדור שזכה לראות את חלום הדורות מתגשם, המחויבות שלנו היא להמשיך לבנות, להיאחז ולהאיר את ארץ ציון וירושלים.
