I'm excited to share 26 ideas in user-owned tech! We @ElectricCapital invest $1M to $20M in user-owned technology that gives people control, privacy, and access. 6 ideas to highlight: In Finance as Entertainment... - Spectator capital: Live stream audiences need ways to financially participate in outcomes. What it could look like: A platform that lets audiences stake on live content. Participation makes watching more fun, but currently viewers are limited to tips and subscriptions. This platform lets reality TV audiences stake predictions on who gets eliminated, or lets audiences copytrade as a streamer shares their trading session. - Opinion markets: Prediction market platforms need markets that resolve on collective belief, not just events. What it could look like: A platform that generates market-ranked lists. Users stake positions on where they believe others will rank these items. This platform creates lists for the best pizza in NYC, the top wines under $20, the most influential movies of the last decade, or the best AI developer tools, all ranked by the market. Lists resolve weekly based on stake-weighted rankings. - Drama launchpads: Individual storytellers need funding and distribution platforms now that they can produce dramas more cheaply than studios. What it could look like: A UGC platform for short-form drama. Creators produce episodes with AI video tools: mafia boyfriend sagas, secret billionaire reveals, revenge thrillers. Fans unlock episodes with tokens and tip creators directly. Creators earn based on viewership. ReelShort generated $700M+ revenue in Q1’25 with low-budget, studio-made drama series. This platform combines YouTube UGC content with ReelShort’s video format. In Fintech & Defi... - Non-crypto correlated yield: Stablecoin holders need yield that does not drop when BTC price drops. What it could look like: A platform that brings real-world infrastructure yields to stablecoin holders. Yield could come from data center project bonds, solar installations, and EV charging networks with predictable cash flows and no correlation to crypto. - Globally accessible equities: Global investors need direct ownership of foreign opportunities with low friction and costs. What it could look like: A financial product that replicates equity ownership with price exposure, no funding rate, and no expiration. A trader in the Philippines builds a US tech portfolio. A Canadian builds Korean semiconductor exposure. - New forms of insurance: Businesses need fast, transparent coverage for operational risks that traditional insurance cannot provide. What it could look like: A platform that uses prediction markets to create new insurance products. A hotel chain can buy hurricane protection for its Florida properties. A ski resort can hedge against a warm winter. Capital providers supply liquidity in exchange for uncorrelated yield. Read all 26 ideas below.

This time last year Legend didn’t exist. Today the Legend Trade Series was featured on the front page of markets by @wsj. We set out to prove trading could become financial media and this event was a glimpse of that future. Thank you to @Polymarket + @Zacp0ly for believing in the vision. Congrats to all the traders who competed. We’re just getting started. Let’s win.

I'm hiring a very type-A person for a "deals" role. San Francisco Compute is frequently a deal company. These are large, multi-party agreements that take awhile to pull off but result in very large supercomputer getting built. We’re hiring for a role that designs & runs new deals. This is not a sales job. It’s closer to a product role. This is the role that creates new business models & new ways of working with our external partners. This role does involve talking directly to external participants, but you’re not trying to convince anyone of anything. This ideal person for this role is interested in understanding people’s incentives very deeply & coordinating lots of people to build something that works for all parties. These deals typically need someone to lead & stay on top of them until completion. They need someone who will make the deck, prep a memo, write & coordinate term sheets/LOIs, coordinate people throughout SFC & throughout the counterparties organizations. Sometimes they require someone to just get on a plane to make something happen. This role works directly with the CEO & COO. It’s likely one of the higher leverage roles at the company. This role requires you to be a hyper-organized, type-A person. You should be very good at setting expectations, pushing back, and having strict & clear boundaries. We expect to be professional & honorable when working with external parties. If this is you, I'd love to talk to you about it, my DMs are open!

We're looking for the best trader, with any size. Because I'm interested to find out -- if you trade $1,000 or less to $10,000 in the next month, I will personally send you an additional $10,000 of my own money. Two tracks: 1. Arena PvP wins 2. Normal trading performance, by Legend ELO. We developed a system over a few hundred simulations that we hope to identify the highest skill traders for perps specifically across most account sizes, that also takes into account that larger sizes are harder to trade, but still allow the opportunity for smaller accounts to win. Cash prizes. IRL prizes. On-platform prizes. A bunch of cool stuff. dm me on Legend if you start or are able to do this

San Francisco Compute is growing rapidly & we're hiring across the board for our systems engineering, data center development, & (product & brand) design teams. We're the local supercomputing company. We sell people GPU clusters on contracts they can sublease. SFC's goal is to reduce the financial risk one of the largest infrastructure build outs in history. To do that, we vertically integrated. That means we build data centers, the clusters in the data center, and a cloud platform that we built on top of the most order book of it's kind. This lets you do cool stuff like "buy a 1 month contract 3 months out, but only if I can get it colocated, and only if the price is at a 25% discount to the current market price." You can walk in the door on Friday, buy a 3-year contract, and then walk out the door on Monday by selling the whole thing. In other words, we build the cloud for people who care about margins & their risk exposure. We did that because SFC was originally "Junelark" (a teeny tiny 2-person AI lab), which bought too big of a GPU cluster & was forced to sublease it. The first year of the company was tremendously stressful because if we didn't sell the cluster, we'd go bankrupt. This forced us to become a very rough accidental cloud. We'd operate on top of other clouds, but ran out of folks who would give us access to key parts of the cluster (like BMC, UFM, & switch access) needed to offer a viable experience. To build something great, we vertically integrated down and down until we hit the dirt. These days, I like to operate the company somewhat quietly. Our website's a single page (we may change this). We don't show up on VC market maps and we're not in the news much. I hope this doesn't deter you; SFC operates at very large scale & has been growing at an incredible pace. We're just very focused on standing up clusters & shipping features that help our customers. Our team includes industry veterans, like the cofounder of Voltage Park, key folks from Tesla, Meta, Lambda, Redhat, Hut8, Canonical, & Sun. We'd love for you to join us! My DMs are open, or you can reach me at evan at sf compute dot com.
