A friendly reminder: Sending 20 hyper-targeted pitches will bring you more clients than sending 500 generic ones. Freelance writers, act accordingly 💁‍♀️

@tschill86 PayPal is the tricky one though because if you're charging in a different currency, they also reduce the money you receive through a very non-transparent and poor currency conversion rate. It's why I ran far away from it years ago once I got on board with @Wise!

One of the biggest surprises early freelancers have when getting paid are processing fees (using PayPal/Wave). It's a shock to send an invoice for $500 & see $15 get taken out. 2 things here: 1. You make it easy for clients to pay you 2. You can charge more to include the fee

In case you need a reminder: When you charge more, your clients take you a lot more seriously. Do with that information what you want.

@STEcopywriting If you have subheadings throughout, try using the outline on the left to jump back and forth—that's the only one I can think of!

@ashleyrcummings I feel like it's because we all significantly slow down like in no other month of the year. And compared to, say, Q4, there's no push to get things done asap. I don't mind that at all, the gentle start to the year 👌

PSA: I understand it can be hard to hire good writers with a small budget... But I sometimes see writers asking if a $15/1,000 words is a decent rate for a beginner. The answer isn't just *no*, it's also: that's below minimum wage. Too many companies don't show basic respect.

@erin3flynn @ConvertKit Mine works fine, but I do see that there was an update to the look of it (the way stats look like etc.) so you may have just run into a weird error during that update. Maybe try a different browser 🤞

@kat_boogaard I am so so sorry to hear this, Kat. 💔 I've gone through a similar week or two in 2017. Doing things like that through grief and pain is taxing. Take care of yourself, sending you so many hugs 🫂

I'm unexpectedly traveling the rest of this week for a family funeral. I'm grateful for the flexibility of freelancing. But also, "flexibility" doesn't mean last-minute changes are easy. I'm still scrambling to adjust deadlines, move appointments, and get things done. 🤷🏻‍♀️
