Sheriff Griffin posted a video this morning (5/15) addressing the 60 Minutes episode in which hurricane Helene volunteers were depicted as "white supremacists". He apologizes for trusting the media, almost like we were right all along... I commented on the post and was subsequently blocked from the Henderson County Sheriff's office social media page. My comment is below. My Response To Griffin- "Whether they took those statements out of context or not, you still made those statements. You're smart enough to know why they were asking those loaded questions and you chose to walk into their trap. You claimed relief volunteers were "diverting county resources" and creating chaos, actually we were providing hot meals, we even fed your deputies during 3rd shift so they didn't have eat MREs, we provided heavy equipment for locals, laundry services, showers, fuel, heaters etc, but you called this "chaos" and implied we did more harm than good... You whined about volunteers practicing their second amendment, you claimed "social media misinformation" was rampant and that we should seek info from "official sources" even though TikTok was VASTLY more accurate to the situation on the ground than the propaganda networks you gave so much credibility to... The same sources ironically you are now telling us not to trust... More resources were channeled to the community through OUR TikToks than ALL of FEMA and to deny that is a lie...
