@BlackIshgvm @greekcitytimes People sees it, and rejects it for what it is: revisionism. Sadly, now it's more common to watch than to read, especially amongst the young. Hollywood knows that, you know that. There's artistic license, and this is not it.

Product Of Black History ✊🏾🇺🇸
Seeing that real individuals from that time period died before Christ was born they have a well documented history that can’t be erased. In the year 2026 movies are made to entertain and so are the actors that choose to accept the roles to play in them. The odyssey story dates back to 1911 with many more after none of them have effected the Greek heritage just as this one won’t

Product Of Black History ✊🏾🇺🇸
Ancient Greece wasn’t some isolated, monochrome bubble. The Mediterranean world was interconnected through trade, war, migration, and empire for centuries. A diverse cast in a modern adaptation isn’t erasing Greeks it’s actors playing roles in a retelling of an epic that’s already been reinterpreted countless times across history. Y’all are putting way too much thought into movies.

Ok. Vulnerable post but here we are. I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs. It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight. It did not happen overnight. If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting @rondarousey I most definitely wouldn’t have reached this. I was pre-diabetic, had trouble simply walking in September 2024 and have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then. It was hard, SO damn hard.. there was so much to learn, too much to unpack here, ups, downs, plateaus, things I learned late I wish I learned earlier, trial by error but I did it. Thank you to Ronda, who waited patiently while I lost this weight and giving me something to aim for. There is still so much I need to learn and want to do in the health space and to continue transforming my body, but for today, I thank God, my husband and my family for sticking with and encouraging me the whole way. I pray this encourages you wherever you are in your health journey. Believe there is hope. Never give up. Ok.. enough emo, I’ve got a fight tomorrow. We’ve worked so hard to get here. Tune in!! @netflixsports @netflix @MostVpromotions

@Panagiotou90St I finished Euripides' Helen today, he describes her as having blonde locks. I don't expect Sunny Hostin read it.

It is a grave insult to a nation to treat its founding epics as mere instruments for your propaganda. The View is nothing other than prog-brainwashing at this point. In the very beginning of the Iliad, Homer described Athena as bright-eyed ( ), Achilles as blond and Hera as white-armed ( ), and Helen as white-armed (Book 3.120) It is one thing to try and highlight things that haven't been talked about much in the ancient Greek lore. It is quite another thing to change the original material to score political points against your political rivals in a time and place that is very different to Homer's. If they were actually interested in representation of other races in the ancient Greek lore, they could do something on Memnon, the king of Ethiopia. But no believes anymore that this is about highlighting things that haven't been noticed enough.

@athenaeumbc Sorry this is bullshit, a whole army shows up, breaks I to his house and eats his food, then he’s supposed to be the bad guy? Didn’t Odysseus return home to find a bunch of guys in his house eating his food, and he killed all of them? At least the Cyclops spared some

One of the Odyssey's most important lessons comes when Odysseus and his men encounter the Cyclops Polyphemus. At first the situation does not seem dangerous. They land on an island, discover a large cave filled with food and livestock, and begin helping themselves. Odysseus says they should stay and wait for the owner of the cave, because he expects the man to follow the Greek custom of hospitality. In the ancient world a traveler could rely on that custom almost anywhere. Instead, something very different happens. When Polyphemus returns, he blocks the entrance to the cave with a massive stone and begins asking questions. Odysseus explains that they are travellers and reminds him of the sacred duty to treat guests well. Polyphemus laughs at the idea, and tells Odysseus that Cyclopes care not for the gods or their laws. Then he reaches down, grabs two of Odysseus's men, smashes them against the ground, and eats them. The true horror of the scene is the calm way in which Homer describes it. Polyphemus eats the men as casually as someone might eat bread and cheese. Odysseus has wandered into a world where the rules of civilization no longer apply. Now Odysseus faces a serious problem. He cannot simply kill the Cyclops, because the stone blocking the entrance is so large that only Polyphemus himself can move it. If the giant dies, everyone in the cave will remain trapped there forever. The next evening Polyphemus returns again and devours two more men. This time, Odysseus offers him wine that he brought from the ship. The Cyclops has never tasted wine before and drinks it greedily. When Polyphemus asks for Odysseus' name, Odysseus gives one of the cleverest answers in all of literature: he tells the giant that his name is "Nobody." The wine soon takes effect. Polyphemus collapses into a drunken sleep, and Odysseus and his men put their plan into motion. They sharpen a massive wooden stake, heat it in the fire until it glows, and then drive it straight into the Cyclops' single eye. Homer describes the sound of the burning wood hissing inside the eye like iron plunged into cold water. Polyphemus screams so loudly that the other Cyclopes come running to the cave and ask what is wrong. The giant shouts that "Nobody" is attacking him. Hearing this, the other Cyclopes assume he must be sick or mad, and they leave him alone. In the morning, Polyphemus rolls the stone away from the entrance so his sheep can leave the cave. He runs his hands over their backs to make sure the men are not escaping. What he does not realize is that Odysseus has tied each man underneath the sheep, hanging beneath their woolly bellies. The animals walk out of the cave and carry the Greeks with them. It is a brilliant escape, but Odysseus makes one mistake. Once the ship has sailed safely away, he cannot resist shouting back at the Cyclops. He reveals his real name and boasts about what he has done. Polyphemus then prays to his father, the sea god Poseidon, asking him to punish Odysseus for the injury. That single moment of pride ends up shaping the rest of the Odyssey. Poseidon hears the prayer, and from that point on the sea itself seems determined to keep Odysseus from ever reaching home. His intelligence saves him and his men from certain death, but his pride creates new dangers that follow him for years. Even the cleverest man can ruin his own victory if he cannot resist the temptation to pride... --- Join our online book club and study the classics with us! @athenaeumbc And this what stood out the most for me when I read this book last year. But because I identified with Polyphemus, you come into my house, eat my cheese, drink my wine, and when I catch you, you go "Friendsies?"? No sir, you are going to get it. 😂

@CuriousMrFox101 @TMZ You are right, he doesn't live like the rest of us, because despite the abysmal administration of this state, our homes haven't burned. Yet. His did, so he has to stay in a hotel. A year later, still no rebuilding. Thanks to Bass. If he pays for his room, why do you care.
