The bar for golf fitness is so low. The players & coaches will accept anything that appeals to specificity bias. When this is what is considered acceptable practice, unquestioned. Things won’t change.

Horrific service from @Autoglass this morning which, reading their replies isn't exactly out of the blue. Days of reminders about my 1030am appointment, told no appointment on arrival because they have clearly overbooked. No explanation offered other than, it's the system

This week’s Dubai Invitational is being played in remembrance of promising young golfer Emanuele Galeppini, and in memory of the 40 people who tragically lost their lives in Crans Montana on New Year’s Day.

This is what the elite clubs are now dealing with on a regular basis. High intensity games every 3 days (including travel) leaves little or no room for sufficient maximal speed exposures in training. It’s mostly recovery and tactical work between games. As we know from research, players who hit 90-95% of their max speed 1-2 times per week are less likely to suffer muscle injuries than players who hit <85% or less. The paradox is that schedule is designed to showcase the best players more than ever - but the game demands increasingly leave less and less time to prepare for them.

Mikel Arteta's fascinating insight into Arsenal's recent injuries 🧠 "We had three very similar actions with three injuries, two groins and one hamstring. There is a push when people are trying to accelerate, so to replicate that in training is very difficult. "Gabriel Magalhaes, for example, when he injured his hamstring he had to track 50m backwards and the one he was chasing was Adama Traore. If instead it was Emile [Smith Rowe], with all respect, probably he doesn't pull his hamstring because the last time he went to 34KPH was six weeks ago. So he didn't have any exposure there. "Can I train that? I don't think I can. Maybe before that he had to do two very explosive actions, or maybe none and that's the moment where the muscle/tendon reacts or not."

Had a brilliant day visiting Wimbledon and watching some fantastic tennis. Huge thanks to @MarkBeefTaylor from the LTA for the invite - it was a real privilege to experience such an iconic event up close. Also great to catch up with Joey de Beer from the ATP Tour. We had some really insightful conversations around scientific support in tennis, future developments, and the interesting parallels we’re seeing with golf. Wimbledon was a truly special experience. It’s rare I get to enjoy a major event purely as a spectator, and even better to do so at a championship I’d never been to before. I’ll definitely be back, highly recommend it!

Most of performance is about how we perform on our average days, not about how we perform on our best days. Raise the floor, not just the ceiling.
