@VicLombardi @Broncos As long as Waltons are paying, (not us) Burnham yards site is a win-win-win. We keep Broncos in Denver, bring jobs and revitalization to a dead part of the city, and have a deep pockets, third-party pay for it along with all the environmental remediation 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

If you have a one-on-one dinner with any movie star (living or dead), who would it be? I'd pick Doris Day. I'm sure she could tell some amazing stories about her days in Hollywood. I could stare at her over cocktails. Because she was a comedienne, her beauty was downplayed.

@PrezWisdom @IkeLibrary @MountVernon @USGrantLibrary Brutal choice. All 3 are at the top not just as extraordinary military leaders but leaders of honor, integrity & character. I go w Washington. We know him the least but he personally risked the most though amazing deprivations over nearly a decade of his life. GW was the man👊🏼

@doranka @jim_benemann 👍🏼 answer. We also have a higher eduction system that despite efforts to underfund, undermine & destroy it remains the envy of the world. But if certain shortsighted looneys choose to cut research funding & the grants that put college within reach of all — it will die 🤷🏼‍♂️

Interesting question with a bunch of answers. Couldn't be more up my alley, Jim! Head start after WW2 with the rest of developed world destroyed themselves and owed us money. That head start allowed us to be global reserve currency when we came off the gold standard in 1971 (exact year many aspects of USA decline began - wtfhappenedin1971.com ) Our Constitution prevented government encroachment on innovation and entrepreneurialism better than any other society, ever. Combined with a population of smart, motivated, hardy people who would cross the Atlantic Ocean and head West without knowing what's there or move here from Asia or Africa with no job or home lined up when the opportunity to do so arose, the USA has led the world in innovation, technology, global finance and entertainment which brings more high paying knowledge jobs which means less lower paying manufacturing or farming jobs. The relative advantage of having higher paying knowledge jobs allowed us to outsource most manufacturing to countries with cheaper labor to increase standard of living. Trump is wrong about this (free market global trade when it's buying cheaper goods) being a bad thing in general. We should do free market trade where we gain a comparative advantage (we can all pay less for every t shirt or television than it would cost if it were made here by American workers which is good for every American consumer) Excellent physical location- insanely great natural resources, port cities for global trade, all without any potential enemy who poses a serious threat less than an entire ocean away. Tldr- a lot of real economic advantages we still have, a big head start that is fading away, and still a lot of opportunity to live up to the reputation of a great economy and to rebuild a thriving middle class

Granted I wasn’t an Econ major, but I can’t figure out how the U.S. has by far the most powerful and envied economy in the world if we’ve been getting screwed by our trading partners.

I would love an ABC Movie of the Week DVD set. There are some collections with a lot of those movies, but a complete set with good image quality would be awesome.

@classic_film This review makes me want to see the movie-and makes me wish that the networks would release DVD collections of their movies of the week.

@classic_film Both quippy and fun. Both ladies men and perennially “on the make. But if I had an acute appendicitis I’d sure rather have Hawkeye (named for 14th Pres. Pierce) on the case. Hawkeye put medicine first & ladies second. I got the sense Doc Bricker reversed that priority😂

@TheMovieMan17 @classic_film I have a theory that DeForest Kelley somewhat patterned his irascible “I’m just a county doctor Jim!” bit after Doc Adams on Gunsmoke. Both very good at their job, both cranky and both lovable.

@classic_film He fully embraced his own character. Kyle MacLachlan said “He was in tune w the universe.” I don’t know about that but he was utterly, unapologetically himself. I liked Blue Velvet & Mulholland Drive, LOVED Twin Peaks and found something to love in all he did. #RIPDavidLynch

At his best, David Lynch was one of his generation's most original filmmakers. I'm a fan of Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, and Twin Peaks. David Lynch, the legendary American director defined by a dark and surreal style, is dead at 78, his family announced on Facebook. usatoday.com/story/entertai…
