Just out in @NeurosurgeryCNS, a study led by @MarkD_Jr (@NeurosurgeryOSU), demonstrates the feasibility, effectiveness and efficiency of robot-assisted placement of convection-enhanced delivery cannulas in the brain. This advance can streamline and enhance direct infusion of therapeutics to the brain. #neurosurgery #CED #GeneTherapy @OhioStateMed @OSUWexMed @Solid_Bio @CNS_Update @OSUGeneTherapy journals.lww.com/onsonline/abst…

🧬This is an important milestone for the #FriedreichsAtaxia community. #RareDiseaseResearch
Solid Biosciences@Solid_Bio

Yesterday, Solid Biosciences shared an important update with the Friedreich’s ataxia community. The first participant has been dosed in the Phase 1b FALCON trial evaluating SGT-212, our novel, investigational dual-route administration gene therapy for the treatment of FA. We are deeply grateful to the FA community, @CureFA_org, our clinical partners, and the patients and families whose trust and participation make this work possible. Your partnership continues to guide our mission to advance meaningful therapies for people living with FA. Mark Damante, M.D., (@MarkD_Jr) and colleagues (@NeurosurgeryOSU and @OhioStateRadOnc ) show (@JNeurooncol) that for intermediate-sized motor-cortex #metastases, patients benefit from surgical resection plus #SRS compared to SRS alone. These foundational findings demonstrate the critical role that resection plays in optimal patient outcome for metastatic deposits in functional areas. link.springer.com/article/10.100… #NeuroOncology #neurosurgery #BrainMetastasis #RadOnc #MotorCortex #ClinicalOutcomes #OncologyResearch #XMed @OhioStateMed @OSUWexMed @OSUCCC_James @joshuapalmermd

Real-time MR-imaging demonstrates bilateral thalamic convective infusions for gene therapy for fronto-temporal dementia (@AviadoBio). MR-guidance allows for continuous monitoring of vector distribution during delivery. We describe this technique in @TheJNS (thejns.org/view/journals/…). #GeneTherapy #neurosurgery #FTD #neuroscience #CED #neurodegeneration #dementia @NeurosurgeryOSU @OSUWexMed @OSUGeneTherapy

Real-time MR-guided intrathalamic convective delivery for gene therapy for frontal temporal dementia (@AviadoBio) reveals predictable scaling, high containment and lack of leak back. These features establish the thalamus as an excellent convective delivery conduit for gene therapy. thejns.org/view/journals/… #neurosurgery #FTD #GeneTherapy #Neuroscience #CED @TheJNS @AANSNeuro @NeurosurgeryOSU @OSUGeneTherapy @OhioStateMed @OSUWexMed

Excited to share this recent publication in JNO on a relevant topic. Case-matched analysis demonstrated that resection+SRS/SRT resulted in superior strength improvement and motor outcome compared to radiation alone for 1-3cm motor cortex metastases.doi: 10.1007/s11060-025-05378-2

Very excited to announce our recent complement increase! We are now officially 4 residents per year for a total complement of 28 residents. This is a reflection of our entire departments hard work and will ensure our residency program continues to be a top program!
