The Queensland government hit pause on native title claims in February because of a belief that claims were being approved without sufficient testing of the merits of each case. This caused hysteria among activists. The background and facts are important. In Blucher on behalf of the Gaangalu Nation People v State of Queensland, the Federal Court agreed with the state's position that there was insufficient evidence to support a connection to land to justify the native title claim for around 25,000 square kilometres of land and waters in central Queensland. The applicants appealed, as is their right, and in December the full Federal Court found native title did exist. The state was given 28 days to appeal. Bureaucrats decided not to appeal, without consulting the minister. In response to this, Natural Resources and Mines Minister Dale Last instructed the head of the department to pause native title claims so each could be properly tested on their merits before any settlements agreed. •••••••••••••••••• Native title claims need a sunset clause to end wasteful ambit claims whereby bureaucrats are bypassing testing, and granting Native Title over land where there is no continuous association with the land. People First has a policy to end to any further Native Title claims. The Mabo decision was handed down in 1992 which has given land groups more than enough time to prove continual association with the land. Leaving the Scheme open only invites further ambit legal claims that waste taxpayers money and cause genuine landowners uncertainty and stress.

You see, every religion that has ever existed (or ever will exist) will have followers who say they KNOW God exists because they have had an up-close & personal encounter with Him (it's normally a him). They might use slightly different language, but the gist will be the same. So which of those followers from their thousands of religions who KNOW God, are the ones who really, really KNOW God. Or, put it another way, if you are a Christian who KNOWS God, how is your belief any more certain than, say, the Muslim who KNOWS God? Your belief is a reflection of human psychology, not celestial reality. The FEELING of something being true doesn't make it TRUE. Pray for me if you want, but it won't make any difference. There's nothing up there to answer those prayers.
