.@SohrabAhmari tried to lie about the status of Catholics in Iran, painting it as if Iran doesn’t target Catholics. When I pointed out the inconvenient truth that they fired a missile directly at the holiest site in Catholicism, he turned replies off. Don’t be a coward, Sohrab.
Mark@MarkFooterman

@SohrabAhmari So explain the Iranian missile that was headed directly for the Holy Sepulcher, you dishonest fuck. Tell the truth. Catholics, in order to worship in Iran, have to pay taxes to Muslims BECAUSE they are Catholic.

If Christians are upset Holy Week is disrupted because there are missiles being fired at Israel and Jerusalem that target civilians, you should blame the Islamists firing the missiles - not the Jewish State that does EVERYTHING in its power to keep people safe. 🙄 Use your BRAIN

Then I asked him: did you hear about these things happening? He said “no.” I replied, “so how did you know 4 priests were blocked from entering a church in Israel today?”

A friend asked me to explain why I think the outrage today over the Holy Sepulcher is proof of widespread antisemitism. I showed him an article about Russia bombing a 17th Century Catholic monastery on Thursday and a video of Nigerian Catholics being slaughtered.

@JeremyDBoreing @YossiShow Jeremy, suppose they had let them in today and a missile hits the building. Who gets blamed? Be honest.

Israel doesn't have an optics problem with Jews. It has an optics problem with Christians, whom it is accused daily of hostility toward. Today's action, as I stated, was a huge self-own because it gives Israel's political enemies fodder for their claims. Every anti-Israel podcast on Earth with lead with this tomorrow and will still be talking about it a year from now. This single foolish act will lead to a further erosion of support for Israel and the Conflict in Iran. But you will note my post also says the shutting down of religious gatherings itself is highly debatable. That includes Jewish gatherings. As with my position on the same issue during COVID, I oppose governments closing down religious gatherings in the name of safety per se.

The loudest critics of what happened in the Old City today are people who have never been to the Old City. It’s 0.35 sq miles. For context, JFK Airport is 22x bigger at 8.1 sq miles. So yah, when a missile falls on anything in it, everything gets shut down, not just the church.

Reminder: In Christianity, the holy week preceding Easter is supposed to be about reflecting on the sacrifice of a righteous Jew, not for bitching and moaning and lying about Jews. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Netanyahu and Herzog clarified it was a good-faith mistake. If only European leaders rushed to tweet their outrage like this when Nigerian Christians are being slaughtered every day.

We didn’t. A select few decided that taking money from Qatar and veiled Jew-hatred were the way to garner clicks, views, and engagement money. The rest of us called them out for what they are: grifters. That’s not tribalism, it’s called having a moral compass.

WHEN DID WE BECOME THE LEFT? “When I was going through my hell, only two elected members of congress took my phone call- @mtgreenee and @laurenboebert. MTG visited J6ers in prison, was the only congressperson to sponsor the Matthew Perna Bill- named after the J6er who committed suicide, and she prayed with me while the media took pictures of us and mocked us. Now a directive has gone out that she’s a traitor- and if you want to be in the in crowd, you must hate her, too. When did we become tribal, mean, and hive-minded?”

@blz314 @emzanotti Well, at least you soeak for yourself alone so you only make yourself look stupid. Every holy site for Judaism, Islam, and Christianity were all shut down for security purposes.

@MarkFooterman @emzanotti Speaking for myself alone: I am not only insinuating that, but I'm saying explicitly. The Israeli government is discriminating against them.

It is contrary to the very savior we revere today, welcoming him to Jerusalem with the word, “Hosannah,” to turn our backs. We understand that to worship Christ will not be easy or without discrimination and danger.
George Santos@Georgesantos

The unprecedented move by Israeli police today blocking Catholics from entering The Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Palm Sunday Mass is abhorrent. I 100% condemn this anti catholic action and call on Israel leadership to apologize or have every catholic nation leader turn their backs on them. Disgusting behavior.

Remember last week when Russia deliberately blew up the historic St. Andrew's Church, part of the 17th-century Bernardine monastery complex, in Lviv, Ukraine? Oh, you didn’t hear about that from the self-proclaimed dedicated Catholics on X? I wonder why….

Remember when Latin Patriarchs cancelled the Palm Sunday precessions over COVID-19? But a missile fragment strikes within 1,500 feet of Jesus’s crucifixion site and tomb, and you guys want to hold an event that always draws huge crowds in a place that is inaccessible for EMS.

Sorry, but this doesn’t work. You don’t make a decision to stop the most important liturgical celebrations of the year a surprise to the people subjected to it. If my town wanted to shut down the Synagogue during the high holy days for security reasons, it would be an insult to do it as a surprise.
Kamel Amin Thaabet@K_AminThaabet

Jerusalem police barring Cardinal Pizzaballa & his small contingent from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was a poor decision but shouldn't be reported as if intended as a religious affront (was security driven). There is full freedom of religion for Christians in Israel.
