@BBCPolitics @BBCNews Certain MP'S are in it for themselves hoping to grab as much put of the system they can. What should really take place is the seat was voted in as conservative there should be another by-election so the voters can have there say. They can't just jump ship

@BethRigby When you ban something it tends to get used more by manipulative ways logging into new accounts with false birthdays and names. Social media needs to do more with there algorithm . If someone is viewing something considered unacceptable it should be blocked. Social media issue.

Badenoch calling for social media ban for under-16s. Govt currently doesn’t support a ban, but says it’s taking action to ensure kids better protected only online. Burnham taking different position from Starmer on a policy where I think govt will come under pressure to move….
Andy Burnham@AndyBurnhamGM

I find myself agreeing with a lot of what Kemi Badenoch is saying about children and social media. It seems to me parents would welcome a cross-party consensus around much bolder action.

@piersmorgan I think you may need to rethink your post. Venezuela we're hit my a military coup illegal attack on a sovereign state. Both leaders have similar traits looking to enrich their own wealth. Regardless of the people they serve.

@Neccccy When Boris took over as PM . That's when things went Belly up Brexit . Removed Cameron from office at a key moment when we were starting to get going after the coalition. Then you had 5 PMs all trying to bodge the job the previous leader had done. Truss made it worse.

@Nomad_1x @RupertLowe10 Many foreign workers send their money back home which means they spend less in the uk. Those on courses should be guaranteed a position over and above foreign workers. This is not being racist it makes good sense.

@RupertLowe10 Isn't it better for the economy to have immigrants who accept lower pay work instead of them though? The NHS is severely underfunded and if we only employee 'British' people then they ask for much higher wages which does not help with the strain it is already under...

I have been contacted by a ludicrous number of medically qualified British men and women who cannot get a job in the NHS. Just this morning, one young woman training to be a midwife who, along with many other students, has been told not to expect any employment offer. This is at a time when hospitals are employing countless foreign nationals who can barely speak English. It’s true. It’s not racist to point that out. We can all see it. Can somebody explain why we are relying on foreign labour, potentially unqualified and incapable, when our own trained people cannot find work in our health service? Anybody? Because to me, that looks downright moronic We need to drastically reduce our reliance on migrants in the health service, particularly when there are qualified Brits being turned away. TRAIN our own people. Stop allowing foreign nationals into British medical schools - give young British boys and girls the chance to qualify, not random foreigners. It’s a scandal. Why are hospitals prioritising hiring migrants over our own medics? Anybody? Any idea? I have had SO many people from within the NHS contact me with concerns about the competence of foreign staff. SO many. The vast majority terrified to speak out at work for fear of being labelled a racist and being unfairly targeted by woke hospital bosses. So why are we filling our hospitals with foreign workers when qualified Brits are sitting unemployed? I will raise this in Parliament until we get answers. This is a scandal nobody is talking about. I will.

@basilthegreat In a way yes when the evidence is so damming and the person has admitted guilt. If not then deport them to the country of origin. Let the country pay for them to stay in prison.

@bbcnickrobinson So secondly, the editor who made the error by overlapping Trump speech has he or she resigned? Who else was involved? Have they resigned? Has America got to much influence over our news? BBC is in a rut at present who can steal them through this and beyond?

What has happened...what is happening at the BBC? In normal times you might be forgiven for dismissing that question as naval gazing by journalists who can't resist talking about themselves. In normal times I'd be inclined to agree with you. These, though, are not normal times. Ever since the first rumours of the resignations surfaced I've been piecing together what happened which led to this crisis ... Those at the top of the BBC have appeared paralysed for the past week - unable to agree what to say not just about the editing of Donald Trump’s speech by Panorama but also wider claims of institutional bias One source described the arguments that have raged ever since the Telegraph published a leaked memo by a former adviser to the BBC board as “like armed combat”. Another alleged “political interference” after what they described as “a hostile takeover of parts of the BBC”. The BBC is run by a board made up of the leaders of the major divisions of the corporation and part time directors appointed by the government of the day. BBC News executives - the journalists who run the News division - agreed the wording of a statement at the beginning of last week, admitting that it had been a mistake to edit together two different sections of Donald Trump’s speech on the day of the Capitol Hill riots without clearly signalling to the audience that the edit had been made. It would have concluded that despite this error there was “no intention to mislead” the audience. This was not enough for the BBC board which refused to sign off the statement. The report it had received from Michael Prescott, who was an independent adviser to the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and Standards Board until June 2025, stated that the Panorama film “created the impression that Trump said something he did not and, in doing so, materially misled viewers.” The argument which raged on the BBC Board ensured that the BBC neither defended itself nor admitted its mistakes for day after day after the leaking of the Prescott dossier alleging “institutional bias”. As criticism mounted from the White House, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and many others, the BBC only said that that it would not comment on leaked documents whilst promising that the Chairman of the BBC, Samir Shah, would respond in writing to MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. In her resignation statement last night the chief executive of BBC News Deborah Turness stated that “The ongoing controversy around the Panorama on President Trump has reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC – an institution that I love” Neither she nor the outgoing Director General Tim Davie explained what they thought had gone wrong. A majority of the BBC Board appear to agree with their editorial adviser that there is a problem of institutional bias reflected in the coverage of Donald Trump, Gaza/Israel and trans rights. That argument has been led by one board member Sir Robbie Gibb - a former BBC executive in charge of political programmes who became Prime Minister Theresa May’s  Downing Street Director of Communications and one of those involved in the founding of GB News. Friends of Sir Robbie insist he has repeatedly and consistently supported Tim Davie and wanted him to stay and has written articles supporting the BBC and the licence fee . As of last night the BBC board’s 15 members had still not agreed the wording of the statement that is due to be made today by the Chairman of the BBC Samir Shah. We expect that letter to be published later this morning A final thought...I understand that at the time of transmission of the Panorama film in October 2024 there were no complaints received about the editing of Donald Trump’s speech.

Feeling grateful for surviving rock bottom and coming out the other side… I was sat at dinner looking over at Mike (my husband of 1 week) and it hit me. I’m so happy. I’ve shared my journey before about how broken I was after medically retiring from rugby and going through a horrendous breakup during lockdown. It left me with zero confidence in myself. I don’t just mean lacking confidence in how I looked (I couldn’t even look in a mirror). But lacking confidence in my abilities and my value as a person- I didn’t believe in myself enough to apply for jobs or go to events I was invited to. Mike has helped me step by step come through the other side. He helped me to be confident in my body rather than embarrassed of my muscles. He patiently coached me to have a better relationship with food. He’s challenged me to push myself in my career whilst also supporting me. As a result I feel valued and I’ve been able to thrive. This isn’t supposed to be a soppy post about Mike as that’s not our style but I wanted to share the message that if you aren’t feeling valued the ‘problem’ isn’t you- it could be your environment or not having the right people around you. Ultimately YOU need to feel good in yourself but appreciate having people in your life that can help you.
